yeah id return it with they keys and walk away mate, creaky dash means more garage time for it.

watch dog are good at forming letters for you etc and to explain the 14 day thing, you are allowed under any circumstance to reject before the time is up.

especially if your on finance or something

Yes they did say that! I'm a bit p$$sed off about that blatant lie! It's not that straight forward though, because the car has now been registered! I once had to reject an impreza (major issues) and the whole process took a few weeks, although i guess i could get a courtesy car while i wait.

Was not me with the dash creak btw. i think it was halo that had a few rattles.

Is there a good reason why changing the door would be a bad idea? It would be alot quicker and easier, if it was a used door i would be inclined to say no, but it is brand new.

Cheers

If you want to swap the doors id say just get it painted as they could cause more issues by swapping it over. I had major locking issues because my cover came off and the wqires rubbed. Took a few months for it to cause a problem by which time I couldn’t lock the car!

A week here is better in the long run tho!

personally, get it done by chips away, you have bought a bargain of a car, if you walk away you'll be har pushed to get another one at that price in the colour you want. The more you question the more doubt pops in your mind.

To reject the car is up to you, but you can pick holes in every new car, it is rare to find a 100% perfect one. and you could drive it down the road and get a stone ship anyway.

The dentmaster people are amazing and you would never know. just get the dash checked out now. But if you are expecting perfection, best get a refund and pop down the road to the BMW garage and then spend twice the amount to get the same sort of specced car.

Remmeber Seats are cheap, so quality is not top of the agenda, you pays your money you gets yor choice.

once you have had it an driven it some more you'll soon forget. And bare a thought for the poor soles who paid 18k for the same car just a couple of months ago. go enjoy it

tbh I just wouldn't trust dealers to do anything as well as its been done in the factory, i.e. fitting doors, painting etc. Also a good chance that the door is a slightly different shade to your car

I don't think it's unreasonalbe to expect the bodywork of a brand new car to be 100% whether it's a seat or a more expensive, prestige marque. i do appreciate that no car can be 100 % but problems that are not related to the bodywork of the car are much easier to rectify (in most cases anyway)

Any damage should have been detected before i even picked up the car, that is just bad customer care imho. Also i was lied to, they had another brand new car in the same colour the entire time, this transaction would have been alot smoother had they told the truth and just swapped the car over before it was even registered!

I know that i got a great deal on the car, but to be completely honest this always happens when a manufacturer has just launched a new model and wants to clear the previous models stock. I do feel bad for the people that had spent 18k on the same car just a couple of months before. I am not trying to have a dig at seat or the quality of their cars, i think the LCR is a great car!

Anyway, i'll post here when all of this has been resolved. Thanks very much for all the feedback and advice.

unfortunately you are buying SEAT. A cracking brand and a cracking product let down purely by its shoddy dealer network.

This is something SEAT HQ need to address this year if they are to stand any chance of making up the 10 loss in sales for 2005.

i can never understand, how dealers are not more passionate about the product they sale. Coming from a sales backgroud myself i was always told if you do not believe what you are selling then you'll never sell it, and with the dealers you get that impression. And most can't be asked to do anything, i wonder what they wish to achieve.

I knw if could get the financial backing i could run a dealership and give the customer what they want and expect, no pissing about.

When i bought my new one the other day the guy tried to tell me that i had to have an appointment with the Business sales manager, so we could chat about gap, and paint protection. i said no, they said you have to, its FSA rules. however once i had explained i was a Fuly qualified Independent financial adviser, they soon changed and i never did get that sales call on monday.

It was me with the fecking creaky dash - its going in tomorrow with a list if every box isnt ticked its rejected end of story

I know its a cracking deal and nothing is ever perfect but to me its the principle. If it had been quality checked it right it would be picked up and I wouldnt as a customer have know about it - same with the rattles it took me 5 mins to find my new one.

Anyway mate whatever you decide stick to your guns but do it sooner rather than later i.e rejection is easier quicker you do it

Meantime im off to clean the car cause im sure my back bumper is a different colour

Im going to swap the doors over and see what the end result is like. Chips away can't do an invisble repair because the chip on the door trim is too deep (plastic is dented) The door is coming from a brand new car so i'm sure everything will be ok.

The dealer basically called me a liar (in their own words) and stated that the saleman did tell me about the other platinum cupra r they had in stock, what person in their right mind would have not taken the replacement...Blatant lie!

I know i probably could get a refund/relpacement but the dealer is not playing ball, i really don't want to go to court over this, i just don't have the time and can't be without a car for long.

They are also replacing my brembos due to the laquer peeling, already!

When this is all finished i am going to name the dealer, i was quite happy initially as i felt they were going to do their best to resolve the issue, but after the conversations i've had today my opinion has completely changed.

I also contacted Seat customer services regaring the problems, they were very helpful and contacted the dealer to try and speed thing up. Unfortunately they can't do much else as the contract is between me and the supplying dealer - understandable.

I hope everything works out with the door swap, i would really like to start enjoying the car.

Again, cheers for all the advice.

dont use any of these chips away services, they all paint out side, if your worried about colour match/orange peel from a dealer you'd be crazy going to a franchise like these. bacically the use air dry cellulose paints, now these if worked in righ conditions ie spray booth, a controlled enviroment. you can get an ok finish, however they always blow panels in and this leaves an edge on the paint. which will come back. if you want the chips gone and your worried about colour you want to get the full side done, this will involve them filling the chips then prepping the full side, but we/i do this a different way, when you put clear coat laquer over a silver it darkens the colour ever so slighty, so i use 1000s discs on all the panels this removes more laquer than just scoth briting the panels, hence your putting back on what you took off not putting more on. as for over spray from a body shop, there should be none! check out there shop, see if they have a booth and wether there work is ok, if your not happy take it to a good bodyshop and get them to pay, they should be stripping the full car

STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE WHO COME TO YOU TO DO THE JOB

in 2007 they will no longer be able to do this as eu rules are changing and the paint the use is being fased out. this is good for me, because then i dont have to put right the **** theyve done before. as a gudie price for that job your looking £220-£300 depending where you are,

Hi Guys,

After talking to a few bodyshops i decided not to go the changing door route! I then spoke to trading standards again to clarify my rights and decided that i was going to try and get a replacement. In the end the dealer gave me a refund but would not replace the car, quite frankly after the way they handled everything i would not want another car supplied by them anyway! What really annoyed me was the fact that they had 2 LCR's in platinum the entire time, so saying they would replace the car but probably couldn't get platinum was complete BS! This could have been resolved before the car was even registered.

Now the revolutions offer has ended i will be hard pushed getting another cupra R at the same price, i have spoken with SEAT uk but they say there is no way another car can be supplied at the 'limited offer' price.

Unfortuntately it looks like i'm going to have to look at some other marques! Or maybe consider a nearly new LCR.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions and comments!

I hope everything works out with your car Halo..

Chris
