Wider track, wider tyres, more expensive to replace, non standard sizes often mean more money, rubber is expenive enough as it is.

As i said earlier in this thread, production costs versus what the public will pay, totally blow what you think you want out the water, as its totally unrealistic.

I think what I meant by "Oh heck, i'm no car designer - but I just love something that really stands out." was that I really don't know how to fix it and that it just doesn't grab you like the LCR before it did (visually). Better styling isn't really unrealistic and I think perhaps more could of been done there. Then again, I want to see it in the metal and in it's finalised state with a pricetag (hopefully not 20k!) so i'm not writing it off yet..

Tyres not a problem for me (see linky below) lol.

BTW if you want one of those racing cars, SEAT Sport UK should be selling them for next years championship ;) Im sure they'll be 2-3 times the cost of the Leon Cupra.

...and a complete bread bin on the roads ;) Nah, I never asked for a racing car - nor would I really want one for the comute to work!

It seems to me that a lot of people on here wanted bigger arches, more spoliers, more agressive looking car........ but as a group of people you make up a very small percentage of the people that SEAY wnat t6o buy the car, so they have to tone down the car to appeal to a wider audiance.

5-7 years ago I've have wanted a car that looked more like the 'agressive' one you all talk about, but now I want subtle, foward thinking styling but power and control underneath. My love of cars and performance is still there but my tastes have changed and I believe that VAG as a whole are looking at where the money is for their 'sports' cars and it lies with those in the same category as me - hence the looks of the Leon Cupra, R32, S3, Octy vRS.

:)

It's not bad, It poses the question of should you buy the FR and pay the £2500 for the bodykit and have it revo'd. It may cost around the same for a better looking car.

Just sold my car so I need to make a decision soon, looks like a trip to the motorshow might help:confused:

Well the new pictures are better and the top gear one is the best out of the lot. Still not bowled over like I was with the LCR but in the flesh I'm sure it will 10 times better.
On anoher note why do SEAT insist on using yellow as a show car, it does them no favours at all IMHO.

I must admit it does look pretty good in black/aubergine/whatever its called. The ovni colour tries to make it look sporty and fails whereas the black makes it look more grown up which seems to suit the car more <- does this make any sense ?!?

It will be interesting to see what other colour options are available.

Why has the cupra pics in the media centre got painted callipers and not brembos?

Though it’s probably just a base model that they’ve put the bumpers, wheels, etc on for the photos, it is a bit slack if you ask me.

They are the same calipers as the Mk5 R32 except red instead of blue, when i went for a test drive in an R32 the brakes were my favourite part of the car, i thought they were outstanding.

Can you elaborate a bit more on how you felt when you saw it? Did it blow your mind? Were you sweating and shivering? Do you now need post traumatic treatment? Finally, having seen it, would you get one if the price was to be £19K (with brembos)? :help:

Like I was going to pass out :D the aircon doesn't work well at eXcel

It did get a lot of ooh's & aaar's though - and seeing them all on the same day (VXR/ST225/TypeR) as well, none looked 'normal' enough - the others just didn't do it for me

If the price is right, the package is better than any other out there. More power than all buy the VXR, but if the chassis is right (and it will have Brembo's) it'll have them all licked.

Can't wait to have a run

Just tell me you don't prefer how goddamn mean this looks

The comedy of the day when that was taken is that it is so low that the photo's had to be taken in the pit lane as it's ground clearance would mean ripping the bumper off to move it elsewhere in the car park.

I see what you mean - the bumper is styled with the same pen, but clearly the gaping hole wouldn't pass pedestrian laws, nor would the wings shape either.

Each car gets a launch colour, the New Leon when it was launched (not previewed) was Black - which is even worse for pics.

THe Yellow sucks up the light nicely, Red is also nice for it too - but the mid range metallics suck!

I'd just like to publically thank Mork and Z for the sterling job they did today bringing the news and pics to us as it happened.

It really was excellent work indeed.

Thanks both.

All part of the fun of getting up at 4am & sitting in traffic for 3.5hrs :D

Seriously though, it's great when you can do stuff you enjoy, and do something constructive at teh same time (and not go to work!)
