i bought a new mass air flow sensor from my local motor factors as i get trade prices as mines done 97k now but it was not a bosch version so i thought i would give it a go anyway as it has a 12 month guarantee ......oh dear after i fitted it i went up the road and the tc light came on and it was almost stalling on tick over so i unpluged the sensor and it stopped hunting so i fitted the old maff on and back to normal so must have been a dodgy maf so i will take it back and in future get a bosch reconditioned one!

Better off getting a brand new genuine one than a refurbished one. Have dealt with "bosch" refurbed ones on the past on various cars and half the time they're duff in a matter of weeks.

Actually, a brand new one from TPS or dealer is £300+ and a weeks wait.

TPS/dealer stock: £126 (+£60 Surcharge) Reconditioned unit

So I’d go with a re-conditioned Bosch unit from the cheapest supplier, probably Euro car parts. You’ll get a refund or warranty exchange much easier from Euro Car parts than any OEM supplier.

I was under the impression that the Bosch ones were the oems. I know they take back the old ones and recondition them but I didn't know that's what you get from ECP. My mistake. My main point was don't cheap out when replacing your MAF or you'll just be replacing it again soon

Well I got a brand new Bosch one for £80...

This on ebay... not quite the price I got... but still not £300+

Sorry Mate, but at that price and the fact that they give you money back for your old unit tells us that it’s a re-manufactured part.

But to be honest, as long as the re-work has been done to Bosch or OEM quality, it’ll be as good as new.

Mine was through the garage I use and is a brand new, genuine Bosch one and it cost about £80 for the part. As for the one on the ebay link - I would expect feedback on the seller's page complaining about the parts being re-manufactured rather than brand new if that was the case...
