Just picked up new seat Leon ST. Couldn't be happier apart from one annoyance. The usb won't recognise iPod/iPhone/old Sony MP3! Just receive msg "device not recognised"!

Was told by dealer that usb and aux plug have moved from glove box to just below stereo. No mdi connector inside glovebox anymore.

Bit annoyed by this as mdi was advertised as simple connection to iPod. Even bought red collar cable off eBay.

Do the aux and usb need to be connected together?

Any help would be appreciated.

Wish I could add the pic. Usb and aux input now sit in storage area just below the stereo.

I don't have a USB or Aux on mine. Just the annoying cable in the glovebox that won't work on mine either!

I've got the cable in the glove box with the dedicated cable for either iPod (old gen connector, bloody useless to most people these days!) and a USB connector. I have an 8gb memory stick attached which works fine 99% of the time - occasionally stops reading when we've had really hot days of late. Just disconnect and reconnect and it works again. New input below the radio should be straight forward plug and play from what I've been told by dealer - maybe a software issue (back to the old updates threads..?)

think the problem is that if your music is on an iPod it's formatted to iTunes - and I don't think it'll play on the infotainment from a USB stick or SD card either...certainly my MY2014 only likes MP3.
My daughter spent days reformatting her albums into MP3 so she could download them onto an SD card for her Golf 5.

My whole iTunes library copied onto 128GB SD card without any conversion and plays fine in my MY15 FR.

If your iTunes library is very old then you may have DRM protected tracks from back when iTunes music was encrypted, they've since removed that but I believe you have to delete and re-add the tracks to get DRM free versions.

not realy a fan of the new location. Such visible cutting of costs by saving let´s say 50cm of cable is ridiculous. What does come next, co-driver´s seat?

Perhaps less about cost saving and more about making the physical connection to the car easier/more appropriate for mobile phones when using Full Link.

Imagine having to reach around, open the glove box and plug your phone in to the required physical port each time you wanted to use Full Link or some such?

That's not why it was done, it's more designed for you to connect your phone (for Mirror/Full Link) than a media player so the location makes more sense than having to lean over and open the glove box.

good points, you are both right. But don´t tell me it can´t look quite better from design point of view. What more, mobile phones are so big nowdays that they most likely will not fit to the provided space next to the media socket :))) Do you need to touch the phone once it´s connected to the car through the cable and utilizing Mirror link connection ? If not then it can be easily left in eg. armrest or so ... I´m just not a fan of visible cables all around:)

My media port in the glovebox won't work with my iPhone. I've managed to run a cable from the cig lighter near the armrest, under the central tunnel and have it come out of the cubby hole under the stereo. Looks much neater :)

Just had a phone call back from the guy who sold me the car today. He seems to think that the updated seat media system needs to be used through the 'Full Link' system. This involves downloading the SEAT connectapp (which isn't available in the uk yet.....useful). Then my iPhone will easily connect through just the usb slot. Then eventually Apple's own 'Carplay' system can be used as well. Im still not convinced as when i select 'full link' i get the message of 'contact dealer to enable'. The dealer knows nothing of this.

I think this is a case of technology updates getting slightly ahead of the dealers knowledge!

No. Full Link connected to an appropriate iPhone will utilise Apple Car Play. No need for a specific app.

I'm picking up my normal Nav (not Nav High) Full Link equipped ST Cupra tomorrow and will make sure I give the whole Full Link and iPhone a good thrashing before I leave the dealer.

Mine is the first they've delivered with Full Link. Two of them went to the face lift Ibiza launch in Barcelona last week and had a play with Full Link and one of their tech's has had a session on it in MK HQ. Fingers crossed they know what they're doing with it by the time I get there..!

Keep me updated on how that goes. Would love to utilise the full link and apple CarPlay!
