Guys and Girlies, I drive a standard Leon 1.6 and over the weeked i decided to refuel my tank using the new v-power petrol. After doing about 150 on sat did not notice much difference.

When I drove it this morning, "bloddy hell" I noticed a huge difference it felt like i was driving a 2.0 litre car it was more responsive, the engine sounded much smoother, overall it was a better driving experience.

Have you guys in your Cupra's noticed much of a difference ?

Thumbs up to V-Power

Another thing, do you guys also think that this is all in the mind........

V power is just optimax rebranded.....

If you originally used it there should be no difference and its in the mind... If you used rubbish fuel and have just swapped then it may have made a small difference.... I use Tesco 99Ron and its great... :)

V Power is a higher Octane rating (99) than Optimax. It's not the same stuff. There's been loads of threads on it.

Seems to be going well in mine!

........

wishful thinking there matey,

1.6 and 2.0 litre cars are totally different, if only petrol would make that kind of difference, petrol would be like gold dust and priced so $$$

Pan are you sure I heard from a very reliable source that there was no difference....

I may be wrong....

if you used a different fuel then yes changing to better fuel would make a difference tbh but not huge.

Fair enough I stand corrected.

Thanks for the info Panholio I will have to try it.... what is it selling at?

Bruce

Anywhere that was selling Optimax, i.e. any Shell station

I use BP Ultimate myself

Mine pulled stronger from about 3-5k using Vpower when compared to Opti. Not just my imagination, passengers noticed it too, and my mate who drove my car.

Shame its still sitting in the dealers with near enough a full tank of the stuff!!!

I've been feeding the LCR on Optimax for ages now.

I was lucky enough to be in London for the launch of V-Power (Massa drove his Ferrari F1 up and down the road a few times), so knew what it was.

The next time I filled up, the petrol station I stopped at had already replaced Optimax with V-Power.

I noticed a difference within half a mile! It's good stuff!

I don't wish to sound rude Dyna, but I just don't think that is possible - I think its the placebo effect. As said many times before, modern engines like ours can adapt to get the best out of a good quality higher octance fuel, but it takes time. And I don't mean half a mile. Usually a tank or two brim to empty. At best it will help it feel a little more responsive, a little smoother maybe - but its certainly not going to make a shocking difference.

I think the psychological effect of putting a tank of 'the good stuff' in has more effect that the actual fuel itself.

i measured cf's on mine and there is less with v-power than with optimax. I have mine at timing 9 with Revo stage 2 and it ocassionally hits 5's cf.

ive started useing v max over tescos as its 97.9 compared to the old optimax price of 103.9. Things seem to be smoother but i think the weather changes have had the biggest effect

its 96.9p a lite where i live and i have filled up about 3 times with it no and i have noticed that the car is more responsivve and pulls a bit more but like scotty said that could be the weather as well but i still think the fuel is playing a part in it
