Hi,

My rear tyres are at the level where they need changing. This is on a standard Seat Leon Cupra, 16" wheels. I think that is 205/55/16.

I've been reading here and the Falken FK452s seem to be recommended.

I want something which isn't going to completely square off due to my motorway miles, but also something that is going to keep me smiling when it is 'playtime'.

Are there any others I should be looking at? (Some of the FK452 threads were from last year...)

Gone from eagle f1's to yokohama parada spec 2's on my lc and boy are they fun. Couldn't fault the f1's at all apart from the price, great in the wet and dry. I have to say though that the yoko's dry weather grip is truly amazing just refuses to let go. In the wet however is a different story, they are as slippy as an eel and you need to be awake to push them in the wet, great fun though.
 
Have had differing experiences with Eagle F1's on my Leon Mk1 FR they were pretty good in the wet and a bit poor in the dry, they were also useless on my Clio182. Also have been made aware that there are two types of F1 available some say 'Made in Germany' some say 'Made in China' - surprisingly the German ones are better rubber!

The Leon had Falken F452's on when I bought it, they are a pretty good solid tyre but am currently running a very nice set of Toyo T1-R proxies. Try Tyretraders, tend to have a very good stock of allsorts.
 
im currently runnign the falken 452's and find them great, iv had a pair of hankook evo v12 and found that they wore out very quick compared to the falkens and i would rate them at about the same for grip in the wet and dry, and for £48.40 each for the falkens from camskill you cant really complain
 
I've plumped for the Falkens as I've heard several people say theres little difference between them and the Toyo, but I've also heard that the Toyo T1-R wear rate is worse (and worse than the T1-S it replaced!)
 
You will find everyone will have different opinions on tryres. It really depends how you drive, conditions, miles etc etc. I have some 452's on the rear of my car and have had them for about a year, done over 10k miles and still loads of tread on them.
 
My T1-R's have done nearly 20k miles (75% of it motorway and are still very good).

The T1-R's didn't replace the T1-S, they are two seperate grades of rubber, also think the S's lack the re-enforced side walls which help massively in corners.
 
Best and cheapest solution would be to get the Falkens. I've had mine for a while now and they do handle extremely well. I did find in the wet I have had moments where the front washes away from me. I reckon that this could likely be contributed to hot weather to wet weather bringing out oil and diesel onto the road surface.
Next time round I shall be going to either the Goodyear F1 A's or the Vredstein's.
