Hi all. A few questions. I've got a 16inch space saver in the boot from seat I imagine.
Will this fit over the brakes of a 1.8 dsg
Also my new wheels are 225/40/18 et45 8.5j
Will the 16 space saver work with this new size of alloy or not? I'm confused as I've read various conflicting points on weather it's suitable or not.

Thanks in advance

I am not 100% sure but is the older car not 5x100 and the newer one is 5x112 PCD
But you could always jack up the car and just try on the hub

Hi mate. The PDC is correct on both. I'm just curious as to weather or not if I get a puncture I'll be okay to have the 16 space saver on with 18s on the other corners?
Thanks

Unfortunately the Tyre pressure monitor and the ABS would show an error all the time it was on.

The 125/70R16 is almost 9% smaller diameter than the 225/40R18

The 125/70R18 spare is only 0.8% different to the 225/40R18

And the PCD for the Mk3 Leon is 5 x 112
Its no use telling me but how do you get 9% ? its only 5% smaller admitting would be better with
a 125 80 16 tyre

Sorry I had been playing with different values and left 17" instead of 18"

I had remembered the 8.8% and 0.8% from doing the same when searching for a space saver for my FR on 18's
TBH - the 18" space savers are quite easy to find at a sensible price ( Mine was from a Golf MK6 )

Ah that's good to know. You don't happen to have any part number do you? I would expect brake clearance problems with a space saver either would I?

Usually, the rear brakes are smaller than the front ones. Even if the space saver does not fit the front, it will be extra work but you can swap a rear proper wheel over to the front.

I also seem to remember reading, more than once, to only put a space saver on an undriven wheel because it puts less stress on the diff. Not sure what diff your car has, but I think it would be definitely be FWD, so the space saver would always go onto the rear.

This rings a bell. Will keep this in mind. Thanks very much for your help
