Newbie - Hybrid Turbo

Hi im thinking of buying a seat ibiza cupra tdi.

First of all is a 2005 one with less than 70,000 miles worth £5,200?

What are the main problems with this car, negative points?

If i installed a hybrid turbo, full turbo back milltek exhaust, uprated sachs clutch & then remapped it would i be getting 225bhp?

Bump!

I have bought the car now im ready to give it a bit more power / torque.
Without spending silly money, what is the best / cheapest way to get over 215bhp.

Im thinking hyrbid turbo, full exhaust & remapped - should all this give me around 220bhp?

Personally I would look at;
Cone filter (Panels known to collapse on bigger/modified turbos)
EGR Delete kit.
Uprated Intercooler/Pipes
Miltek Turbo Back including DECAT.
Uprated Clutch/flywheel.
Hybrid Turbo
Then a bloody good map and you should reach 210+

Expect engine mounts to snap and also consider pad/disc upgrades.

Phew with all that done to my car i would be expecting 225bhp never mind 210bhp..

All that would cost about £2,500, yet i could just spend £200 on a remap alone that would see me with 200bhp!

The majority of that stuff is for reliablity, so it wont give you extra power.

And if you belive the internet, you could have 200bhp for £200. But not in the real world

from what mates have told me, go for the q7 big turbo kit. doesnt a bloke on one of the tdi forums do the kit fairly cheap? Few people i know have q7 turbo'd 1.9's but never been in one but they rave on about them over the hybrids they used to have on

Well if i remapped my new car (160bhp standard), along with boost set to 1.7 bar, full service & a decat pipe for about £300 & i didnt get 200bhp i would be very disappointed!

Ahh, it was a bloke on the local vag forum that said you can get the modified mani, q7 turbo with oil lines brand new for £750. I understand you need a shed load more stuff to make it work mind

I haven;t seen anyone selling them that cheap. My turbo is similar but off an Alfa, and if I'd just modified a cast manifold, it'd have been under the £750 mark so I guess it can be done.

Yeh for a good while now. January 2010 was its first BT incarnation.

Theres lot ofs BT discussions going on on a couple of forums just now and its quite funny how everyone thinks its a new thing

So if i got a decat pipe & a remap i would only be getting 190bhp. I thought remaps alone on a diesel gave 20% more power which should take standard cupra tdi to 192bhp!

What all would i have to upgrade if i put a hybrid turbo onto car?

Theres no such thing as an exact figure you can put on remaps.
Does it really matter if its really 200bhp? If your just after that number, get it mapped and get it dyno'd a few times. It'll read 200bhp somewhere.

Personally I prefer my car mapped properly, so its quick through the rev range, with minimal lag, and off boost driving is as economical as before.

If you go for a hybrid, you'll NEED a clutch and its worht fitting a new flywheel while ur in there., You also NEED a map

Technically you don;t NEED anything else, but you'd WANT a downpipe and exhaust and intercooler piping.

With those mods, it'll drive nice and it'll be quick. I wouldn;t worry about the figures too much

That sounds like a whole lotta money to be forking out, wouldnt it of been easier to buy one with all of the above already done???

or bought a petrol one and just got a map. Or one better should have bought my petrol one and just stuck fuel in and enjoyed it

lol aye and it raked out! Nah i dont want to be buying some other fella's problems. Its better to buy a standard one & do all the work yourself that way you know where you stand.
Plus its very hard to find one with hybrid turbo's etc already done to it.
