No turbo whistle at idle 2000 1.9 TDI 110 GT1749v Stock

Is this normal? Has after aftermarket catalytic converter, no muffler. I hear no whistle at all like US spec vnt15

Aftermarket catalytic converter installed from previous owner.

GT1749v no whistle at idle?
VNT15 whistle?

Gonna remove Catalytic converter n see if it makes a difference. Previous owner might have installed cat from a gasser
