I'm wondering if there is a fault with my aircon. When it is running, from outside it sounds like a revving engine with a bit of a high pitched whine. It works OK, cooling the car. I don't recall it being that noisy last year. Is this normal? I hope the aircon is covered by the warranty if there is a fault.

I'm happy with the ehybrid, I got 85 miles on electric with aircon on most of the time the other day, which seems pretty good (windy A roads so mainly 50 to 60mph).

Assuming your car’s is still covered by the original Seat new car factory warranty, the warranty terms and conditions are at the link below;

Essentially, rectification of faults as a result of defective materials or workmanship are covered. However, as is usual with all warranty products, not everything is covered and there is a list of exclusions.

A warranty’s T&C’s don’t make the most exciting read, but IMHO it’s worth familiarising yourself with its content so;
  1. you can decide if it would be worth getting your dealer to submit a warranty claim and
  2. you reduce the risk of the dealer fobbing you off if your air con is faulty and the warranty terms suggest the fault is covered.
If your car is a Seat Approved Used vehicle, then it will have a different warranty (assume you’ll have a warranty booklet?) in which case as above, I’d recommend reading through the warranty booklet.

1.5 this means car is from 2025.
Unknown in the UK but over here in the Netherlands you have minimum 2years full warranty, except wear parts like break and tires.

Regarding the noise issue.
It's normal. The high pitch it's the electric motor for the hvac pump that you hear.
That is only on the outside if it run 100%.
If it is cold enough in the car the noise is less.
When i pre-cool the car. I can hear on how fast it runs, if the car is on target temperature or not.
