noisy steering rack on frtdi

my steering rack has become noisy when on full lock , it seems to do it when ive driven about 30 mile. anyway visited the dealers today ,no problem new steering rack being fitted next week . only done 5700 miles

How do you mean by noisy? Mine makes a bit of a noise when I turn right on full lock - wondering if this might be the same thing?

hi it makes the noise when on full lock its like a wearing of a motor ,my mate who works at audi said they have replaced some in the a3 . its ok when driving but it only makes the noise on full lock .

yeh i had this on my leon after its 20k service..

they fitted it under warrenty and it came out handling far more responsive and much better to drive with.. it also felt more weighted...

I've asked seat to look at this when mine goes in on Monday so I'll let you know how I get on!

Steering weight can be adjusted on the convenience unit - there are about 5 settings IIRC

Just for info in case others experience this, I had the technician look at this when I were in the dealers the other day for something else. He said it was the steering rack which he has ordered me a new one *under warranty). Also need to have something for the suspension done as well as a result apparently.
