Mine has started this kind of sudden bang on full lock at parking speed, - but only when reversing.

That's when I actually have the car (see "Cupra revving on it's own").

Mind you, I did hit a big, fat badger, dead centre at 60 Mph ! (Ouch !)

Now that was a BANG !

I noticed over the summer a really horrible creaking which appeared to be coming from my steering column, esp when going over any bumps. I did my own research (highly technical and scientific i tell you, mainly using my index finger and thumb) and i came to the conclusion it was the plastic over the dials. If i pushed on it firmly, it stopped for a little while. I also came to the conclusion it was when it was hot (i.e. been in sunlight)

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Cupra Creek In Autocar this week !

The long term test on the Cupra at the back of this weeks autocar mag says that Seat can't solve the problem and it's normal for this model !???

That aint right ! [:@]

My car was in for its 10K service last Friday, the stearing rack has been a bit on the noisy side (ie you could hear it) since the early days but even the wife had begun to notice it now.

Pointed it out to the dealer at the service and sure enough it needs replacing,
they also did a flash update on the ECU while it was in

Mine is also doing it (turning left at very low speeds) I have only had the cupra 1 week from new!!!

Will this show as a fault on vagcom? also how long do they need to keep the car in if it is a new steering rack?

Also I have noticed that the gears are quite stiff to, prob unrelated but I need to take it the dealers

Booked in for investigation at dealers next week.

.....my Cupra has started emitting a creaking/groaning noise (presumably from the steering rack) when applying left hand lock.

It's most noticeable when low speed manoeuvring, i.e. parking.

Just noticed mine is doing this when at low speeds, I.e parking or manovering round tight spots/ car parks when using full or almost full lock (Creaking noise). Had the car 5 weeks and 1300 miles so after reading through this will be paying a visit to the dealers for investigation. Sounds like a common fault.

Took mine in yesterday, they ran it on the computer and said they need to send the information off as it is missing a "techinical note"?? Said they will call me with what head office recommend.

When i booked it in they did say "is it when turning left" when i said im getting a creaking noinse when turning so obv. its a prob they have dealt with before
