obd bluetooth

***UPDATE***

Since updating from Android 1.5 > 2.1 the Bluetooth dongle is now connecting fine and interfacing with Torque ok.

Couple of questions/issues though that someone may be able to answer quickly:
• I tried to log some info but when I hit the toggle button it says something to the effect "No SD Card - Are you sure you have an SD Card Fitted"

• The Dials are very slow to react - is it worth turning on faster communication? I mean in the order of 5-10sec for the RPM/MAF ect to update

• Boost Readings - It doesn't appear to be able to have any input to show boost data

What do you guys actually read with torque? Are you using it to log data?

Sorry I didn't know you were on android 1.5 I could of told you that was the problem straight away :)
I remember he said that they altered the permissions on the bluetooth stack (Or something similar) and as such 1.5 is flakey at best with torque.
I didn't realise anyone still used it, I was using 2.2 on my HTC Magic and that was the second ever android phone on the market in the UK! It was basically a G1!

I didn't want the hassle of sync'ing my contacts etc (had a faux pas with HTC sync before and lost everything, though that was windows mobile TOUCH HD)

Is anyone running any custom PIDs? there doesn't seem to be much it can show me that isn't already on my dash? Or am I missing something? I thought people were getting boost readings? Maybe I just need to have a better play around.

Some set-ups for the 1.8T would be nice to see.

I'm a tad confused, If your using android it backs all of your contacts to Gmail automatically?
anyways,

on my track day I could see coolant temps/graphs/dials, speed, throttle position, and various other bits and bobs but I couldn't see (Most importantly intake and MAF readings)

The dev said hes got boost working on the 1.8T but on the Mrs phone at my track day my boost guage/dial/graph didn't work. With that said I didn't play around to try and get it working, I clicked it. It didn't work and I thought bugger this I'm going on the track.

I might have a little browse of the forums later to see how others have got it working. Hopefully someone on here knows.

Glad you got it working. Did you have to change any of the settings within Torque after you updated your phone? Still can't get mine working.

Well I tried mine again today, also tried it using a laptop and some of the PC apps that came on the CD that was supplied with the dongle, no joy with any of them. Also tried the adapter on my girlfriend's MX-5, no luck there either so I guess I've got a duff adapter. Contacted ebay seller for an exchange...

EDIT - also noticed that mine does have status LEDs but when it's attached into the port on my car they're on the lower side so can't be seen when it's attached. When it was attached to the Mazda I could see the LEDs, once it was plugged in and the car power switched on I only had a single red LED, the one nearest the connector. No other LEDs showed at all even when trying to connect to the device.

8Bit - After updating to 2.1 I never did anything, it just worked.

But what you could try is un-pairing and re-pairing the BT dongle again (both in the Phone settings and Torque settings) When I plug it in initially the Power (red) and PC/OBD Tx Rx (yellow/green) lights flash once (must be a boot-up check or something)

The lights are on the top of mine when it's plugged into the OBD socket?? I thought all the dongles would come out the same sweatshop somewhere!

Yeah... I turned that off. It was 2-way so I was getting contacts on my phone that were attached as CC's on my GMail account. People I didn't know and stuff. I'm prob not using my phone to it's full potential haha!

I'm sure I'm running the latest version of torque? maybe I'll check for updates and buy the full version anyway.

Cheers mate, I think you got a different dongle than I did. Given mine has now refused to work on two cars and with not just my phone but my g/f's laptop I think that safely rules out the car, the phone and the app now so I've contacted the seller for an exchange. If that doesn't work either then I'll return for a refund and get a different dongle.

lol so you have the folder its hidden and you have no access to it :(
i take it you can download themes from the torque app itself? i wonder if its worth asking them to add it to the themes server?
