The hardware is the same. The only difference between the basic and pro versions is that the latter requires a purchased account, which can be taken out at any time.

Yes. Without pro, pretty much all you can do is check error codes.

No you can do something on the normal one the pro is for more in-depth coding

With an OBDeleven STD you can use credits to change options on your (or any VAG group car for that matter). If you buy PRO as well you are able to use the credits AND you can make changes using coding which is a bit more in depth but allows extra things to be done that are not listed in the normal changes using credits section.
