You said I needed to change them last time.

The issue is reversing. You have the AB image. A the rear. B the righthand side and B is too dark. The brightness menu only seems to do A, not A and B together. So the combined image is dull. Reverse down a curved drive so its handy when it worked correctly to see the combined image. 360 overview front parking is fine. The image combine well. Hasn't worked correctly on reversing for about four years now.

It's the left combined image that I have not been able to brighten up so in bright sunlight you can see the 360 view in reverse. The reverse image is bright enough. That image button on the right, second down does the reverse camera brightness but not the image generated 360 shown on the...

Quick question since you guys are more knowledgeable. Which obd scanner one would buy? Obd eleven or iCarsoft VAWS V4.0

For obd eleven as I understand apart from basic reading one need to buy plans and credits to do even service reset, battery change etc.

iCarsoft VAWS v4.0 you buy once and can use without any further payments.

Looking for pinions before I make up my mind.

Also I have never been into this stuff before so call me novice.

But technically I can catchup if required once I have the device.

Where they said "I wouldnt spend that much on a device that cant code". If that's true its a lot of money for a device that can't code.

You'll get diagnotics out of obdeleven which costs you a lot less pairing it to your phone so you arent paying for hardware you already have then you have the coding side of obdeleven. In the old days coding was free now new users have an annual license to pay or you use the micro payment apps. They were put in to fight off the likes of Carista. So they were covering two bases, the coders which are really pick off screens and toggles and the one click app people.

Against that you got sfd and sfd2. Sfd2 came in on 2025 models, sfd on 2020. Sfd controls aspects of coding so you can't meddle with protected stuff. International standards on that. You can read about it on Googles.

As for "coding" there is a certain level of misunderstanding on that. The last Leon4 post. I didnt comment they were asking about the centre light bar.

Basically Vag systems get parameterised for how they behave in a particular brand and model. Coding is changing this behaviour. In the rear lights if it was never intended that, that was an option then you can't do it. Scandinavian DLRs is an option that is obviously toggled on in Scandinavia. Other regions the car may be sold without it. If Vag engineers never saw a market where you could turn the centre light bar off, then you cant. Unlike computer coding you are toggling the designed sub systems on and off in the behaviour. You can only have programmed behaviour.

You might be too young to know about "packages" and programming. Old mainframe lingo. A package is written for a task and you can wiggle it's behaviour, programming or coding is programming, so really coding isn't programming on the car, its like using a package. Clear as mud.

Thanks TELL, my intentions to have an obd scanner that can atleast assist in battery change, service counter reset after oil change and general diagnostics, don't want to keep on paying subscription when I need to do the above maybe once in a year.

I think obd eleven model paying for 1 car to do 1 thing for example battery change or oil change doesn't make sense in my case.

Not interested in those one click apps to be honest all options are available in car which I want.

Would be nice to have something which I pay once and is able to do the very basic things would make sense.

In old days you could change oil and keep record on paper, battery died just change it no resettingno coding.

You can register more than one car on obdeleven unless they have changed that. You have what they call the garage, then as you register additional cars they go into the garage. With the dongle plugged in they find the car and you do a scan for faults. Then you look in errors or errors and whatever it is. Read what its says. Then you can clear the lot. I do that before holidays, services and any "coding". Prior to the 2020 cars you cancel stop start which is the main use that I havd for coding now. Post 2020 the luxury was removed of that. People change the button now to remember last.

Service counter I have not changed that. Think you can also fumble buttons in the car to reset that. Yes I think there is some weird stuff about batteries these days. I leave that to the dealer.

There is an obdeleven board where you can read specific stuff. Scanning is free. You might need to register for the obdeleven board to read it. Use to. That's another area where they gather up.

You do get other veritable information on obdeleven. Basically it's VCDS packaged up to read on your smartphone or tablet. The dongle connects to the smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The smartphone or tablet connect via WiFi or 4g/5g back to obdeleven servers. You don't need a laptop or cables/connections that the vcds people go on about. Some of the vcds cables are Chinese pirates of their device. So they are on the war path of those.

You will also find YouTube demonstrations of specific actions with a google, YouTube and what you are interested in.
