Are you sure you want to know? :)

Its actually on the engine, if you find the thick black rubber hose coming from the bottom of the radiator heading towards the lower part of the engine, and then follow it until the hose connects to a hard plastic "elbow" shaped hose, the Tstat is located in this plastic elbow, right where it connects to the engine.

Its a real bugger to get to, I had to move the alternator and Throttle body to actually unbolt the two bolts holding it on, but you can see it without moving anything.

well im hoping that the green top temperature sender sorts my problem out, saw this thread and thought there could be a possibilty it could be the tstat, I hope it is not though as I hate fiddly jobs.... big time! thanks mate

the greentop sender is still the most comon cause of faults and easy to replace so worth doing.

I hope for your sake its not th Tstat, although I reckon I could it again now in less thn 30mins, on and off! Always easier the 2nd time round though isn't it?

fitted the green top temp sender on my car, peice of piss to do, took less then 5 minutes.
When I first drove the car it was still alittle sporadic but once it hit 90 degress it stayed there. I was expecting a fault code through vag com as the old sender was sporadic, yoyo up 'n' down.

Anyway hopefully mine is all sorted now

just to add onto this, my temperature gauge is still not right so could very well be the tstat, uless the coolant sensor is faulty already?

Dont really want to do the tstat as it sounds a biatch to do, might get the garage to sort it out.
