Oem stereo problem

My 54 Ibiza FR still has SEAT system but the radio keeps loosing stereo. Is this a problem with the head unit or a crap ariel. Anyone had this problem??
Tried search but not much help

Okay changed search criteria and found a thread. Seems I need to replace HU and have a new ariel and booster fitted. Anyone recommend a HU that still has the same red back lights and marries up to sterring wheel controls etc. Also anyone recommend a good ICE place in North Kent

I assume the OEM speakersa re OK. Not looking to turn car into mobile nightclub btw

before purchasing a new radio have you checked the aerial base connection on the roof,if its loose it wont have a good enough earth and will be causing poor signal due to static build up

how do i get at it? Does the black trim lift somehow? sorry to be so wet but do not want to wreck anything

you may find youll have to take out the roof lining,easiest way to check decent earth is get a multimeter,attach to the hole in the roof where you screw the aerial in place,then the other end to the aerial in the car then set multimeter to earth and it bleeps (depending on what multimeter you buy) you know the earth is good enough

check the actual aerial connector in the back of the hu, these can damage pretty easily
