i was reading a tread on here the other day about a guy who thought is car was under powered from when he first got it. i always thought mine felt slow after in went in for a service a week after i bought it. i changed the DV and did a couple of other things but it never really felt the same. the guy said that he had diconnected his battery for 15 mins and that reset the ECU and the difference was great.

while cleaning today i thought i would id give it a go but didnt think it would make a difference...........ohh my frikin god, i think i must have been running on half power..... i now get pushed into the back of my chair...as i should,....i have been bouncing around like a kid since i did it this morning and the missus thinks ive gone mad but all o wanna say is

I LOVE SCN and all of its members

cheers guys

Is there any problems when disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU ????

disconnect the negative on the battery for 15mins then reconnect, put the key in the ignition and turn until the light come on but dont start the car, you will hear a wiring sound sound for about a minute. once that stops, turn the car on and drive away with a massive smile on your face :)

remember to have your stereo code ready though else you will be driving in silence for a while.

cheers

Is it a case that you must specifically discon the negative? my batterys been out for a few days, when its reconnnected will it have flashed the ecu parameters?

and also, if i may, while we're on the subject of batterys, when a new battery goes in, is it still the case the the terminals need greasing up? if so what should i use? vaseline?

so to spell it out , takining the negative off for 15 mins will reset ecu adaptions , chips / maps will still be stored

but what about the little adaptions made in vag com like auto windows / alarm chirp etc will these still be stored

cheers
