The 24v senators do about 150 mph easily enough. The leon would struggle past 120-130 i would have thought. Obviously it would beat you upto say 100-120 mph, but after that i reckon you should expect to gain ground and pass him."

Thats funny, cos i bottled it on my ibiza at 135 and it wanted more! im sure the leon with 6 speed box is capable of more than that. silly people :)

Yes and that's the whole point - more torque more of the time

None of these poncy turbo's providing a big spike in power and being pants outside of boost

Remember that Top Gear episode where they placed an FQ400 vs a Citroen Picasso in top gear from 30? And the Picasso peed all over it?! Same principle...

btw I didn't know Senators weighed that little - my Calibra weighs more than that!!!!

what a comparison!

'its a Golf'. Is that meant to be some kind of put down.? More like its a piece of sh1t vauxhall, worth about 1% of its retail value after 3 years. Bloody Vauxhall drivers, its like your hair being laughed at by a ginger!

senators are 'Q' cars

Be afraid be very afraid, old vauxhall senators 24v are rapid bits of kit and will crack 150mph with no bother, thames valley traffic police used them for pursuit stuff and the engine is the same as the lotus calton...but without the twin turbos and little 'works' stuff from lotus................they wouldnt of used the engine to start tuning with if it was a bag of shite.

no. the bits on that vauxhall site. too itrritating to even mention. makes my skin crawl at the ignorance of some ppl.- a turbo is more peaky for example. (then proved wrong. why does a turbo have to be more peaky? ok if you max out the boost they do tend to be. but whats the alternative? should the mappers find out the highest bhp they can at 6000rpm then see what the torque is at this point and limit boost right through the rev range so that it never goes above that amount!!! (we could then brag about flat torque curves all day)or would it be quicker to give it the same peak bhp but loads more mid range punch? I know which I'd prefer. Bloody head up their arse C*&ts. ARRGGHH so bloody annoying.

I'm fairly sure most engines peak unless they have a turbo or some sort of VVT, stands to reason that you can get more air into an engine at medium revs than you can at high revs

they were all about the big engine on that forum, its a 3.0 24V its gonna have masses more torque etc etc end of the day if the torque was that good the power would reflect it which it didn't

i used to have a k plate astra sri. top speed alledgedly was a whopping 120! woo hoo!!

was everso proud until my bro in law got a standard mondeo and declared 125!

felt great to pay all that insurance for an sri for nothing.

and before anyone says its more about accelaration.... that was crap too! as was the handling, sensors ect!
maybe the new ones are better but id personally steer towards vw styled motors.

i love these threads... they make me laugh!
