Oil change in 20 days

I currently have this message on my 1.8 TSI manual.

I am aware that the oil is now seperate from the servicing (mines set to variable).

What has thrown me a bit is that the car has done 4800 miles. Seem low for an oil change?

Car was built July 2013 and registered/used from Sept 1st.

Anyone with similar experience?

1 year from actual build date of the engine maybe?

Mine is not variable but it did start asking for a service after 11 months, not 12. Like keithjeb says, it's probably from the date that the computer was linked to the engine. Probably the dealers are supposed to reset it but don't. I just ignored it.

Not gonna hurt to do it early is it really.

Mine gets done every 5k

Our last one was on the "long life", this one is on fixed. Think it depends on how the PDI person is feeling on the day. Prefer fixed to be honest, and I doubt it makes a lot of difference to average mileage owners.

Oil quality sensor?, in the vcds it comes up about the oil sensor and oil condition, states, poor/good
Maybe that's why it's flagged up an early oil change, especially if you do a lot of short trips?

Don't mind it being done. Was just unexpected. I was thinking every 7/8k in my head beforehand.

Jackpot? My commute is about 4 miles - which is why I went TSI. Noticed the engine temp is always okay but oil is usually still low temp when I arrive. Maybe that's why.

Time to book her in!

Booked the car in - dealer also thought it was odd that it would require a change that soon but hey ho I'm not that bothered.

They are going to do a first service and reset servicing to time/distance (as it should have been done) and we'll see how it runs from there.

Checked the oil level and its only dropped a very small amount since new.

Mine flagged up a while back saying due in 800 miles. I've not done those 800 miles and the car is asking me to change the oil now.

The car has only done 9400 miles.
