Oil Consumption

I check my oil on a regular basis, but my lc never seems to use any oil at all. just wondered what everyone else experience was. Also do you think this is a good thing or not?

Some engines will use more than others - thats just down to manufacturers tolerances, how its driven, etc. My LCR hardly uses any at all, topped it up slightly just once between the 10k & 20k services. I wouldn't have a problem with it using a little oil - as long as there were no leaks anywhere!

Some cars use loads - Alfa's have a reputation for it, as much as a litre every 1000 miles! Sod that!

RX8's are the same with their Wankle Rotary engines....

Mine seems to be ok but should really check it more regularly....

I did nearly 80K miles in my LCR and I never had to top it up between services.

I normally top my oil level up every couple of thousand mile, but i put that down to driving 600mile in one round trip to work!!! so im putting it down to the engine running at high temps for long periods of time......and by topping up i mean a couple of mm on the dip stick, not a litre like my old car needed!!!
