Oil Filler cap full of brown gunk - Help !

Hi All,

Checked my oil today & was somewhere between min & full so went to top it up. When I removed the filler cap it was full of light brown gunk !!! Any idea what it is or why it's there ? I'm worried something is seriously wrong !!! Had a 2 year service back in Nov 09 & the car has done 18,000 miles !! Any advice ?

my advice is to drive it more.

Its condensation, it happens on cars that dont get driven enough, nothing to worry about

get a catch can then all the gunk goes into the can not the engine, mine got emptied today at its 20k service as it was full ... obviously this wasn't seat but jabba, seat wouldn't know what one was !

Thanks chaps, TBH the poor thing doesn't get driven anywhere near as much as it deserves ! Must aim to do better - stuff the environment !

lots of very short journies a cause more than not driving it i believe..?

My missus corsa suffered from this, changed the oil & filters & it's decreased, it still gets a little, her commute is 13 mile, so it just gets warm enough when she gets there.
