had my car saying 'oil' to me on the mileage display yesterday, so i popped off to halfords assuming it was saying 'i'm bloody thirsty'.

however when i checked the oil levels it was at the maximum, and the oil looked ok colour wise etc. the car was serviced in august but the guy didn't turn off the service reminder.

SO, i turned off the reminder as i did the service reminder, assuming it was just saying 'you might want to check it'.... but was i right?

i've had the same problem with mine, has been flashing 'oil' for a short while now, and my car had its first service bout 5K ago now and they are supposed to have done an oil change. looking at the oil, i can believe this and i think...and after speaking to a few people, that they havent reset the trip computer. have tried turning it off as it says in the book, but it wont stop flashing. maybe its just my retardiness kicking in and am doing something wrong!

put the key in the ignition, hold down the trip button, turn on the electrics with it held down, then (still holding it down) twist to the right and hold it there for a few seconds until it shows '---' and it should go. i guess it's just the garage not resetting it after changing the oil

does that stop it coming on ever again or just resets it for another 10000 miles or so. i hope it doesnt reset the insp flashing up when it should do next

I’ve had this on my '02' 1.2 just turn the key to the 1st click, hold down the trip rest button (no turning required) and it will come up --- then it resets it (takes a while to go through). They have 2 indicators on them one that works on mileage the other is the cars birthday. according to my local dealer
