Hi Guys,

This weekend I replaced my oil pick up pipe, replaced the o ring and sealed with gasket sealer but there is still a ticking noise which is not coming from the carbon cannister.

When I was about the change my spark plugs, there was oil on the coil pack one near the bottom around 2cm, looked in the hole and I could see the oil. Im guessing rocker cover gasket. could anyone confirm and help with the ticking noise?

Thanks in advance.

Ive got the exact same problem with mine i changed all the oil pick up pipe and it was still ticking. I took it to 2 garages now one said its your bottom end and other said top head (its only just been done)
Now im being told spring valve or timing belts ive driven the car for 2 weeks now with still no answers and money given to garages for labour for looking.

I could scream tbf. If you come across the problem please post on here and let me know.

I don't mean to jump on the lads post but its 100% not the carbon canister on mine how loud its got now.
Mine pulls fine no smoke or nothing it just sounds what i call bol**ed.

Ive been told it could be the oil pump now, just headache now...the carbon cannister is doing the nromal noise..

One of the garages tested my oil pump by starting the car and taking the oil cap off whilst running. He said yeah your oil pumps fine its spraying oil so oil is getting to the top. So try it that way see if its working. Sure the oil light would flash though if it wasn't working.

Its a loud ticking coming from the top on mine. Another thing i noticed which may have something to do with this is on cold it starts first time soon as i turn ignition off to run in the shop for example come back turn ignition it takes a while for it to start :s

I had all the sump off oil pipe off there was no blockage. Top heads only just been done so now im stumped with no idea what it can be :s

The only problem I have with ticking in my lcr is the carbon cannister, but on my old car I had a weird speed related ticking, was a pain in the ass, turned out to be the aux belt tensioner, has anyone tried running the car for a minute with the fan belt off to rule out the tensioner, power steering pump ect! Maybe the chain running the oil pump! I really don't know, but no harm in throwing stuff out there!

a lad who comes into my work bent a rod and he was getting a tapping was the piston skirt on the oil jet

didn't even know until he took the sump off
