CoulD anyone link me to an open cone air filter they use on there fr or cupra 20vt ?
I'm aware the maf diameter is 70mm but I've been on the JR website and it's unclear which is best/correct. And also will the recirc valve be audible with this kind of filter .
Cheers

Ask bill at badger 5 to sort you out. I've got an 80 mm jetex one with a reducer ;)

Don't mean to bump up an old(ish) thread but am looking into getting a open filter for mine and am confused as to what size to get!! Bill @ Badger5 has said a 70mm tip will be fine but have just read the above quoted comment and has thrown me off slightly! What would be the right size or does it not make a difference?!

Also, have read that some people have fitted a small filter over the SAI as well, is this recommended?

Thanks

I've bought an 80mm jetex and a reducer . Also looking to source a small filter for the sai

So the size of the cone that goes over the MAF sensor is 70mm but your filter itself is 80mm? Is that right?

I'm after a BMC twin cone filter. Guessing this makes no difference what so ever?!

Basically the internal diameter of filter for a straight fit is 70mm however when I bought mine the 70mm was out of stock so I chose the 80mm and a reducer . Aslong as you buy a filter that's internal diameter is 70mm it will be a straight fit on the ko3/s cars its the ko4 vehicles with the 80mm maf

thanks very much mate!! cleared that right up for me!! :D ive got a green panel filter at present, would you recommend a open cone? i no i wont see power gains, just after a bit more noise and a ppffttsssh! [B)]

I found my drilled Airbox gave a better grunt compared to my open cone lol. But now I have a cold air induction with the filter I'n the wing getting direct air through the foglight. It's even less grunt but when it does drive bys it sounds pretty nuts. Now I have a Decat exhaust with non res I don't think I'd notice any grunt from the engine lol

I did wonder that but decided against it , first time you find out its **** you might have destroyed your engine . Better off paying 40-50 for a tried and tested one I'd say .

Well that would be my worry. Probably pretty unlikely but for the extra I'd rather have piece of mind .
