Given how tinny the roof sounds, I suspect its quite a culprit. I've done this on a previous car with great success, can highly recommend second skin ssludge as an Equiv to the under floor stuff linked. Just paint it on and leave to dry for 24hr.

Open cell foam works differently, this mat, dynamat, second skin stuff etc are all 'mass loaders' that stop the car body vibrating, and therefore making or transmitting sound. The foam stops created sound from being transmitted. Better to stop the sound at source with the mass loader I've always thought. The foam is for going to the next stage, and from stopping rattles.

Just what I have found playing previously.

Good to know the Leon can be improved so easily. It was pretty quiet when new 2 years ago, noisier now, but it could be tyre wear, as the fronts need replaced.

Well just finished before the rain come :(

All I can say is what a difference!! door now sound solid if that makes sense!! first trip up the road and can defo tell its a lot quieter :)

Take me about five hours in total, front doors are the hardest to do because of the window regs but overall very easy to do and cost me £55

Looking to do this myself too as the road noise can be annoying.

Would you say it was a massive improvement e.g. like being in a Golf (but not a golf lol) as I find them pretty quiet.

Also how much spray glue did you use for the stuff you have stuck now, was it a couple of cans or just one?

Thanks

And yes a big diff! Still loads more i can do but defo worth it tbh it should be there from factory! I have a friend with an audi a3 which was better than the leon noise wise but i would say the leon is now better!

OK, gave this a go over the weekend using the same stuff as the OP.
http://www.underlay4u.co.uk/laminate...105-55-798.php

This stuff seems to have a nasty musty smell which is not at all pleasent. Is that usual and will it go after a bit of time?

Yes it does smell a bit give it a few days before you fit it or fit it and wait for the smell to go!
It smells a bit like rubber :)

Just make sure you cover as much as you can and try not to leave gaps

Did it make any difference in sound though?

Only done the boot area so far (including wheel arches) but defo an improvement in the rear. Road noise has been damped along with some exhaust noise ( I do have a louder than standard exhaust).

Hope the smell goes though or its all coming back out!!!

Panic over, smell has gone. Or i'm getting used to it....

I've done entire boot with wheel arches, under the rear seat, boot lid, all 4 doors, front wheel arches (the part that is in the cabin - one third, I reckon) and front footwells.
Stil have to do the part under front seats and rear footwells.
I won't touch the roof because it's too risky to f*ck up.
About 30% quieter.
I should probably do those front pillars, that is the part where wind hits the car at motorway speeds.

I tried this with foam camping mats and double sided tape, no improvement at all lol. Must give this a go! What evo stick did you use? The instant contact spray stuff?

I just used the b&q spray glue worked very well :)
Cant see that the camping beds would work tbh you need more rubber like stuff to stop vibration :)
