Hi All,

Just a quick threat to ask for input and opinions. I have a grey, 3 door, 2006 MK4 Ibiza TDi FR.

I knackered my front wheels quite bad in the first couple of weeks of owning the car as I wasn't use to parking so close to kurbs with low profiles on.

I was thinking of getting the wheels coloured Matt/Satin Black when I have them refurbished as the cost is no different. I also found a seller on eBay who can supply me with matching Black Wing Mirror Covers to replace the silver standard ones I have.

Not sure whether it would look that good though so I wondered if anyone else has done similar and/or just to get peoples opinions on how they feel it would look (Good or bad!).

Thanks

Stu

quite a lot of people have anthracite/black wheels on their grey ibiza's. what model grey is it?

and why not buy new wheels? or is it really cheap to refurb the ones you have?

Zach,

I'm not sure what grey it is mate (2006 Model). Darker than yours. I've thought about new wheels instead. Your's are nice. How much di your "17" zcw angels" cost?

I've had quotes from wheelspecialist in Portsmouth and a mobile refurber for £75 and £60 per wheel respectively. So I'm looking at the thick end of £300 nearly for anyone in the Portsmouth area. Although a mate found a local garage who claim to be able to do a good job for just shy of £200?? Not sure though.

I think Anthracite would look pretty good, although then it's pointless buying the new mirror covers...

Cheers

I found the Wheel Specialist to be a bit of a rip off (as they apply VAT to the £75 they quote) - although their finishes are flawless! I struggled to find anyone that would do them for much less though - hence I've ended up doing mine myslef - and having never ever done it before - they're coming up an absloute treat!!

If you're thinking about going Anthrecite/Black maybe you could look for a local powdercoaters to do them? I looked at using 'Trestan Finishers' in Southampton - they were looking for £30 per wheel

Matt,

Do you have a close up of your wheels as they are so far? I must admit, if you saw my front wheels you'd probably cringe! They're that bad! I apprecaite the advice though. Not sure if I trust myself enough to have ago myself as I'm a bit of a perfectionist at heart so I could easily see myself getting frustrated or impatient. :)

Thanks again.

Zach,

I found out what colour mine is - Zenith Grey. I've found a couple of examples of Anthracite/Dark colour rims on Silver and Zenith Grey Ibiza's - Quite nice.

:funk:

I will grab a photo in a bit of one of mine - I used halfrauds gloss black aerosol for it, so far has cost me about £15 per wheel in materials.
Where abouts around Portsmouth are you? I'm assuming you're from the local area since you're Looking around Portsmouth?

well my wheels were £500 mate and that was with tyres and 20mm rear spacers so hard to tell really,

i hear a lot of people now refurbishing their own wheels with good results,

it would be worth having a go, you cant ruin it and will only really cost you your time, then if you dont like the finish give them to the professional as you originally intended to, at least that way you can try different colours :)

zenith grey is a nice colour, i would go with anthracite as i really like that colour. have a search on and see what you can find

As promised:

Excuse the dull finish - the wheel needs a wash, and is a Gloss finish:

Southsea mate. A stones throw from Fratton Park. (Not a footy supporter ).

Pics look good. 10 points for effort and finish.
