It does seem a bit of a cheek given the money that a 'club' appearance at the event will bring; although I do like Marks suggestion as this benefits a charitable organisation whilst proving quite a strong point at the same time.

It may be a bit more of a sore point for us as I was planning on bringing the Arosa in addition to my folks most likely attending in their daily driver.

Whats an extra few quid between all you men, and maybe the charity it goes to may help you one day....:p I'd be more than welcome to pay the money even if I didn't go... You'll all end up going, it's an ace event so stop moanin'... jus A womens perspective:) xxx

No idea Stu, but it does make you wonder. We certainly can't expect people to do this for every event. So in the future i think our group appearances may lessen sadly.

We cant complain about the passes we've had over the years though, the hardcore amongst us will still go but as you say the logistics of getting everybody to 'pay up' for the pass might be more trouble than its worth..

We (The Barmy Army), will try our best to make these meets more sociable and welcoming to SCN members. I think that the appeal of being part of a like-minded social group at these events would encourage people to pay a little extra, if MSV start charging at all venues. If people book their tickets on-line beforehand, saving about £4 on the gate price, this would cover most of the extra cost for parking. It would be a shame to see the demise of the SCN mass gatherings at the BTCC and the fact that we are making a charitable donation makes it far more palatable than just paying into MSV coffers.

I will be not going to oulton as work or to far to go :(.
But i would be up for paying if i was going .
And would be nice thing for the money to go to charity.
" as with out charty donations my wife would of be dead a long time ago as she got terminal cancer and she miss coming to watch motorsport with me :("

So for the money to go to a charty would be very cool :)

I'd be up for it if I was not marshalling at the event this year :).. I am camping though. I think the £5 quid to charity is a really good idea. I'll keep an eye out for the SCN banner

Tell those money grabbing :w4nk:ers to shove it!

Surely they should be encouraging people to come and support these events, not just look for ways to screw extra money out of them. They should be actively looking for clubs to attend on mass, I only occasionally attended every few years until three years ago when I joined this forum, and now attend several times a season as part of the ‘Barmy Army’.

Motorsport Vision Prices have ready been rising, camping rose by 50% last year and I already resent paying £15 per person ( £20 on the day :-o ), to sleep in a field with port-a-loo in the corner. It now costs me £40 at the reduced 'in advance' cost for each Motorsport Vision event before I buy a program or food, or pay the ever increasing cost of fuel to get there and back, only one track is what you could local to me and with these events taking place all over the country I guess it’s the same for us all, (fuel cost obviously not their fault, but another reason to encourage people, not go adding to the expence).
If this was a purely charitable money raising venture then I would not mind so much, but I’m sure the funds will be lining nothing but their own pockets. It’s nice to see SCN is using this opportunity to donate to charity, but this is purely from SCN, MSV will pocket the money all the same.

OK, Rant over., I’ll behave myself and be quite now.

Way of the world i suppose, id be happy to pay as long as we were somewhere similar to last year, and are able to show a visual presence to rest of the world. Otherwise, might as well park with the GP.

i agree id pay it without a dout as long as we were in the same spot.

I went donni and the parking was rubbish the marshalls didnt have a clue what was goin on, i may aswel of parked with everybody else

You have a valid point Hairy but we as a group of supporters can have little if any influence on MSV financial decisions. At least this way we know a charity is benefiting from our misfortune.

Donington isn't run by MSV, and in that case we didn't pay for parking. SEAT negotiate on our behalf they always have done the very best they can for us. We are grateful of their help, even if some people don't see the whole picture.

But ultimately these things come down to the circuit management.

It has been my intention since the beginning to try and secure the same space we have used at Oulton the past few years, on the banking overlooking Cascades.

Got my Oulton tickets.
Donation to charity is worthwile for good parking.

I would pay willingly if attending, (it usually costs way more than that at the shows like GTi or Ed anyway) pretty poor showing in my opinion of MSV, but we all know the punter is the one that usually gets fleeced one way (a fiver for a hot dog) or another ..
the fact theat the forum is in a position where we can pretty much 'make a stance' by forfeiting any costs to a charitable source shows that , at least at grass roots level theres an understanding of the time/commitment etc that some people put into these events and can stick a thumb in the eye of the money making malarky employed by some.

I would definately like to do the group parking and don't mind paying for it if it goes to a good cause

MSV are going the wrong way with this, open up the car parks and attract some of the smaller clubs means more gate money.
I'd pay the club for the parking at a cost basis plus admin but any increase is likely to put me off attending MSV-BTCC events as the gate prices are already on the pricy side.

I will be at Oulton and am willing to pay the £5 for parking, charity donation a great idea. Free bacon bap and coffee always welcome.

would i need to pre-buy tickets for oulton to be able to do the parking thing
as i know time is running out

£5 is fine, more than happy to pay that and the charity thing is very good idea
