Don't no if theirs any other detailers on the forum but i gave my Boc its first DA Machine Polish today and was extremely surprised to how hard the paint on our cars is. That's good as it means swirls don't occur too easily, What is frightening though is how many swirls my bonnet had courtesy of the dealer PDI toxic wash

Anyway just a heads up.

Pretty much all cars have orange peel, some worse than others though. Seat paint is more intermediate... VAG paint is usually on the intermediate/hard side. That still doesnt mean your paint is the same though, every car is different so if you are going to polish the car always start off with the least aggressive combo first and then work up. Best be safe than sorry :)

Mine seems to chip more easily than any other car we've had. I haven't found any chips on the bonnet yet but the doors are getting chipped to bits. We've just had the passenger door repaired after someone hit it so hard it dented the skin in two places. Before it went in I noticed a chip on driver's door, when it came back I found another chip on the driver's door and today I found another chip on the passenger door in the same place that was repaired. All, I assume, by people carelessly hitting it with their doors.

All chips are on the swage lines in the door panels - the first thing to be hit by someone else's door and impossible to protect. It's as much to do with the design of the doors as it is with the strength of the paint. It's going to be a nightmare.

I think the paint is pretty rubbish. I could easily chip it or make a mark with my nail...yes i have done that on my wing mirror trying to scratch a mark off whilst cleaning lol. Nothing noticeable except to me.

yeh because the paints hard doest necessarily means it wont chip as easy, doesn't really work like that. Modern paint is now water baised which means naturally its not as 'Hard' as older paints, White will show chips alot easier as well.

But for the overall hardness i was pleasantly surprised, had to step up the compound and pad twice on my test area before finding the required no of passes needed for a give finish...

Can't go wrong with Menz and 3m, same as what I use :) Tardis is great, iron x would be very worthwhile on your white car too. I think your on DW?? I'll probably do a write up on my Cupra when it arrives soon :) should look so good when it's all prepped

Definately worth the hard work though mate! you should try out the gtechniq products if you haven't already, the glass sealant is so good.

i keep meaning too, have you tried c4 trim restorer?

Yes mate! It's very good, I shall be using it on my car when it's here and then in the summer well when the weather gets a bit drier l
I'll take all the wheels off and do the arches too :)

Before application just make sure you clean the plastics very very thoroughly.
