Was looking at getting the Oval exhaust trim fitted to the Altea, just to finish off the rear instead the standard round boring pipe.

Upon further investigation, the trim is not available/suitable for the BXE engines.

WHY ???????

I have the 1.9 TDI but it has the BXE engine code.

When you look on SEAT.co.uk for the Altea accessories and find the Oval Exhaust trim it states all OK except BXE engines. !!

Anyone know why ???

Yes I know my Altea is the single exhaust pipe version 1.9 TDI and can be replaced with a Single Oval Exhaust trim.

I want to know why the trim won't fit ANY Altea with the BXE engine code.

Thanks

There are 2 different oval exhaust trims y'know.

Part number 1P1072000 doesn't fit the BXE engine : Part number 5P1072000 does.

According to Seat.co.uk/Accessories

1P1072000, Suitable for single pipe exhaust vehicles only - 1.6 MPI/1.9 TDI. Not suitable for BXE engines.

5P1072000, Suitable for single pipe exhaust vehicles only - 1.6 MPI

I am going to query this with the dealer next week when in for a service.

It looks like the BXE engine is the latest TDI motor they are fitting to the entire SEAT range, as the trim won't fit the Leon either.

I discovered this by doing a search and found the BXE might have a wider exhaust so will not fit.

Is it difficult to fit it? I mean do you have to cut a piece from the original pipe or you can install it over it? What's the grip like? Screws or clamps? Does it make any noise? I have a Leon 1.9 TDI and I would like to install one of those tips on it. Please give me some details. Thanks, have a good day!

No it's simple but you will need an exhaust pipe cutter(about £8 from a motor factors)as you have to cut about 70mm off.the trim is held in by srews with an allen key fitment they hold it in place really tight and it makes no noise just looks great.
