Looking to paint my calipers red....they've been painted before but its all faded and looks crap.

All I need to know is where is the best place to get the paint? What kind of paint do I need?

Also shall I paint them red or blue? Its a silver cupra with gloss black cupra wheels.

Smooth hammerite every time fella, two or three coats and it looks fantastic, doesnt fade and is resistant to brake dust and heat!!

Simple prep with wire brush and brake cleaner, mine are yellow on my silver Leon

Brake cleaner will just be from halfords/motor factors to remove anything that may affect the paint, wire brush will just "key" the surface and also knock any crap or loose paint off.

I thought the High Temp Hammerite was required for components such as the calipers?

I bought a can for mine but it needed a few coats to look right.

Right....I've still gotta get round to doing this....now Uni's out the way for this year I have time to do it so will be doing it next week.

So I know what I need to get to do it (hammerite, brake cleaner, wire brush).....

....but is it best to take the calipers off or leave them on and cover the surroundings with masking tape?

I don't mind giving it a go at taking them off but I need to know exactly what I need to do...I'm not experienced AT ALL at taking much apart on the car except the bumper lol....

Is there a guide showing what I need to do? I've done a search but can't find one.
What tools will I need?

Also to paint them do I need to:

1) Clean with brake cleaner
2) Get any flakey bits and excess off with wire brush
3) Apply paint (with brush or sprayer?)

Id swap 1 and 2 around. and you should get a better finish with a spray..
