Hi everyone

I brought some savage red calpiber paints, but the colour has came out dark pink!!!! what happened, was it the product fault or something i didnt do right??? I was thinking of getting some red hammerite to paint over it, is this a good idea or not?

hammerite will cover it m8 but it will look pants i would get some paint remover on and start again
how did u clean them first m8 as most work is in preparation i think the paint as reacted with something u have used to clean them with.

i used the cleaning arisol can that came with it. let that do its business for about 10mins ( thats what the instruction said) then started to paint. As soon as i slapped on the paint it went pink, but as it was getting dryed throughout the day it ended up dark pink.

What will happen if i just used hammerite over it????

I've used Hammerite to paint my calipers on my last 3 cars and it's been great.

I used a wire brush to get all the crap off I could, then painted them carefully with Hammerite. Normally takes about 3 coats to look super & last for ages :)

Lots of people have used hammerite and recommend it over proprietary calliper paints. I would go for it rather than going around with pink callipers!

You should be ok to paint straight over with the Hammerite paint, but I'd test a small, inconspicuous area first. Do a small section, let it dry and see how it turns out. If ok, do the rest. If not, remove the original paint and start from scratch.

Did you use a wire brush and sand paper to remove any surface rust before starting this job? If not, it might be worth doing that before using the Hammerite anyway.

I used a bit of sand paper to get the crap off and then this cleaning spray that came with it. I've just checked this morning and its got a little more darker this morning, but no were near red. I'm just gonna have to get some hammerite stuff and sort it out then. What a nightmare, its def put me of painting calipers again!!
