Pairing a central locking fob

Has anyone had any luck getting a remote fob to pair to their Exeo.

Like a lot on here I have one remote flip key and one poverty spec manual key that I have to insert into the lock and twist. I would like to buy a spare remote fob and get a key blade cut for it and transfer the transponder from my poverty spec key.

If I was to loose my flip key it would cost me an arm and a leg at the main dealers so I'm looking into this just in case.

Has anyone had any luck with doing this.

My key number is 3R0 .837.220 but I don't know for sure if I will need to buy one with exactly that number in order for it to pair.

The guy that stays next door to me does this he can cut and program any key for any vehicle I have a spare transponder so was going to get him to cut me a key and program it for me
