Parts hard to get hold of?

Hi, about two-three weeks ago my car got hit from behind while i was waiting at a crossing. It came off fairly well witch just a cracked bumper and dented boot. The repair company came and took the car away and said that it should only be 4-5days, normally, but SEAT are a pain to get parts from so couldn't promise anything. A week passed so i gave them a ring and spoke to the workshop manager who gave the SEAT factory a ring to ask what's going on. He said he was told that they dont currently stock any bumpers or bootlids and i would have to wait until they run the next batch and they couldn't give a date on that???

Anyone know if that's true? because it's mad that i've now been waiting weeks for a simple repair when you'd think they'd always keep common bodywork panels in stock. I don't think i'd get another SEAT now becuse whenever i've needed anything done it's always been a long wait (servicing, water leak, radio repair all took more than a month to get done) i'm also yet to have a service that's taken less than 3days to do :(

I love the car but hate the service you get from SEAT and the dealers.

I'm driving a 1.6 megane that i've had to hire at the moment and I can't wait to get out of the thing. It's not a bad family type car i suppose but there's nothing fun about driving it.
 
I cant fault SEAT thelseves, but i agree completley with hard to get hold of parts.

I had a seat airbag just randomly pop out when i hit a "pothole".. i needed a new seat cover.. there where none in the UK, so it had to be back ordered from spain... it took over a month from when it was ordered to when it was fitted.

Its really frstrating but the only instance ive had.
 
deffo true that mate.
my friend at work crashed his Toledo and it took them nearly 3 months to fix it as they had to get the parts from spain.
 
i might beabe to get you some though my brother in law his company sell seat vw and audi part cheap not seen cheaper any were else but i no that seat part are a pain to get hold off they mainly come from spain and they take long time they ant the fastest .
 
found some second hand parts on ebay people braking 2 leons.if there any good or are you going though insurance they need new.
 
It's all going through the insurers repairer so i don't think i'm allowed to source the parts myself but if you think you can get hold of them let me know and i'll have a word with the insurance company and see what they say.
 
ours was the opposite!!

Bodyshop quoted 4-5 days to repair the front after white van man hit it outside the house,
Car was taken in late Tuesday afternoon, so work wouldn't begin til Wednesday morning. We worked out that 4-5 days meant late on Saturday or sometime Monday. Not a real problem as the insurance gave us a lovely Chevrolet as a courtesy car :sick:

lo and behold, 24hrs later, Vick got a phone call to say the car was ready :-o

Following inspection, the car was nowhere near ready, and was rejected after inspection 6 times. (this was not a SEAT dealer)

When Seat had the car afterwards, coz the alarm light in the door wasn't working, we were told that the wiring loom inside the door had been cut, the door shuts hadn't been painted properly, and the door hinges were hung uoside down, which was causing more damage to the door :confused:

so back it went to the same Citroen Body shop to be done again, after many an arguement with the insurance company Vs. the dealer. 2 weeks went buy before he was finally ready to pick up. This was after the initial inspection by them, to report that the rear wing had a paint chip and a small dent "that they'd done previously"

hope it all goes well in the end for you.

Don't give up on Seat just for a few parts issues. All manufacturers are the same.

My brother-in-law had a Honda integra with a damaged B-pillar. took over 12-months to get a bodyshell shipped over from Japan :-o
 
juist spock to him he might beable to get parts for you and he sells parts to body shopsall day company in luton he goes to gti show gpc the comany called. just looked might be a bit to far for you dont think he would send them all the way to you, you would have to pick them up

Absolute pile of rubbish.
Firstly a bodyshop would not be able to call the factory direct, they would talk to the nearest SEAT dealer who would check their systems.
Second there is a choice of 5 different rear bumpers for the Leon depending on age and specification. these are all in stock as of now, the most likely part for your car has over 60. That situation would not have changed over the last 2 days since your post.
Similarly there are plenty of tailgates.
I am afraid the repair company is either incompetent or telling porkies

Seat covers are another matter. there are literally hundreds of variations to colour and seat type as well as model. They are not cheap either. SEAT UK would not stock these items as a matter of course for the simple reason they would never sell the vast majority of them. Seat covers do not often get replaced
 
Thanks for the offer to get the parts dan leoncupra but i don't think they'll allow me to source the part myself.

SpareMan the parts i need are the rear bumper, tailgate, licence plate lights and badges for a 2005 leon FR. If you're sure the bumper/tailgate would be in stock for the above then please let me know as I'm paying for the hire car at the moment so i wont be pleased at all if they're messing me around.

thats bodyshops for you,,,ive never had any probs apart from they sent me the wrong rear discs for mine but gave them a ring and replacements were sittin at work by 12 oclock the followin day,like i said never had a prob yet fingers crossed id be kickin off a the bodyshop mate not SEAT;)

Call your local SEAT dealer with your reg / chassis number. Parts dept there should be able to confirm the part numbers and stock levels.

pm me these details I will do it for you Tuesday
