Howdy,

As part of keeping my altea as good as I can I would like to remove and clean the egr valve.

I have seen some videos as to how to remove but they are not all the same.

Anyone with first hand experience on the PD105?

I removed the intercooler pipe and it definitely needs cleaning... Could have just sprayed it there but I rather do it right if I can.

Thanks

I've done it on the pd140. Is your valve on the front of the engine!? It's a really simple job. Basically anti shudder valve is bolted through it just undo using hex fitting and undo the egr pipe from the side. One gasket and i think 2 rubber o rings to replace. Seriously don't need a video litterally obvious

Sorry if this is dumb but I believe is on the back of the engine (very tightly close to the firewall).

For what I read about the BKD it appears ti be quite accessible in the front vs the bxe where is all the way back...

I cleaned it on my last bxe it was awkward to get to some of the bolts as it's right at the back. There are couple of videos on you tube of it being done to the older 1.9 it's very similar just the bxe had slightly different bolt positions I think. I wish I had more egr cleaner when I done mine also. My car had only covered 45k miles so was pretty clean.

I have the bxe engine and recently went about looking into this job. I gave up on the idea due to uncertainties regarding replacement gaskets, even after buying several cans of carb cleaner. In the end I opted to go for the darkside egr delete kit. I'm so glad I did as its improved the throttle response and mpg, it took me about an hour or so to fit.

Wow. Thats significant. Did you installed it yourself? I see them going for £50 but dont you need a remap after to delete it from the ecu as well?

Yeh installed it myself, very simple. No engine management lights so far so no remap. I also saw the £50 ones but after speaking to various people who all said the dark side one was the best

Sorry for this double check but did you so it on an Altea with the BXE? Getting more tempted to take your route by the minute. Getting 4-5 mpg more will pay for itself rather quickly with the mileage I put on mine. Any MOT surprises?
