Hi

Changing my oil this week. Not sure what to go for been looking at the follow all meeting the 505.01 requirements.

Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel 5W-40

Or

Millers XFE PD 5W-40

Want something that goes to be decent, and last and be the best running.

Thanks
Luke

The Millers XFE-PD is very good, Dad used to run it in his PD130 A6.

But it's so expensive! Stuff that, get yourself down to your local TPS (Trade Parts Specialist - Google them) and ask for either Quantum Longlife III or Quantum Platinum, both meet the PD approvals. It's about half the price.

Dad now runs Longlife III in the A6 and his T5 van (also PD) and I even put it in my car as it has the correct approvals for that too.

They may say Quantum on them, but Quantum is owned by VAG (even says so on the bottle), so don't let anybody tell you that Quantum is cheap oil.

I know it's not one of your choices but I bought some Fuchs oil off Opie Oils and lobbed it in last week. It's longlife stuff.

I couldn't believe how much better the car felt. It was quieter as well.

Thanks guys.

The Castrol is £40 but need to buy another 1L so it comes out to £55. Millers isnt bad at £38.

Just having something thats going to do the job and last well and is quieter running.

So Millers and Fuchs as good and not to expensive.

You get a free 1 litre @ Opie oils at the minute. You register you get some money off as well for being a member on here.

I think the motorspares shop on Highfield Road in Blackpool sells Millers. It used to about 5 years ago at least.

I'm using carlube RRR ( Purple Label) for the PD engines - been using it for around 5 years now.

Engine runs nice and quiet (for a diesel - haha) - uses no oil in between changes ( 85k on car at mo )and its not a bad price from eurocarparts.

It also comes in 5ltr bottle so a full oil change can be done with 1 bottle and you have 0.5 ltr left for top up if required.

And Quantum Platinum is about £18 (5 litres), Longlife III is twenty-something. Both carry all the relevant approvals.
