pd160 intake conversion

before i get attacked.... i have done many searchs and had a look in the faqs about this

there is a lot of info on here about people that have done it but i cant find a step-by-step anywhere,

i was having a play earlier and could remove the lower part of the standard air box. theres a weird clip behind the battery i cant seem to remove,

is this conversion using the standard box?

its an ibiza tdi 130

any info on how to do this and what exactly i need would be awesome

i think i have found the info now. i just need a new pipe and adaptor i think

you dont need to play with the air box, just unclip front the front of the car and unscrew from the other end of the pipe and pull free. When you get the PD160 intake the new adapter should come with it to allow connection onto the front of the car. I dont know one end of the torque wrench to the other and i managed to do it in 20mins, its dead easy.

Also are the only parts required the trumpet (6LL 129 621) and pipe (6LL 129 618)

In a word...yes to both questions.

That was the guide i looked at before doing it on my lunch break in about 10 mins with the toolkit in the boot!

yep that the 1, dirt simple, but tbh, doesnt make much of a differance until you get the car remapped, then it does, by about 10-15bhp.

would cutting the flap off a standard tdi FR effectively do the same thing?
since you're letting more air in... but for free
or is it the fact the pipe is wider make the whole difference

Just a quick one, how much is the PD160 intake? And would it be more beneficial to get a PD160, or a cone filter?
I drive a TDI FR

I believe its rather expensive (like £80 from the stealers) but I got mine second hand for £50, which is still a lot for what it is.

I'm no expert but I would assume that a cone filter would be better than the PD160 intake, although the PD160 is more OEM (which is why i wanted it tbh)

I'm going to ask sere motors for prices tho. I'm not sure what gains to expect but I like the standard look, and I'm planning on getting a remap sometime this year

Just back from Local Seat Dealer there.

£81.69 for the two with 17.5% VAT. Shocking.

sounds about right, anything to do with the cupra and they'll jack the price up on ya, have a scout around on the bay, for sale section on here, as said before you'll get a 2nd hand one like i did for between £40-£50.

If you cars under warrenty stick with SEAT parts, most of the techies working in the dealers are fairly clueless and wont pick it up, therefore they wont invalidate your warrenty (as they'll have no grounds to argue its your fault)

Just make your own from flexible piping! Much cheaper.
