PD170 What mods next? Many Pictures!

Both you and AndrewJB are the ones to talk to when it comes to the PD170 =D

Maybe i should save up £800 and get s.hark map. Would the STS systems be any good as they are like 3 hours drive away =[

i dont hav an sts but they are only around 30mins away from me

if you want the best you can get i would book it in for a map and dyno session

to be fair tho i dont think your goin to feel much difrence for your money

if anything you will probably think the shdrk map feels a little slower as it wont hav as much torq kicking in at the start but you will gain a little up top but i doubt you will feel it


to get to stage where you will feel the power the car will need to smoke a little and then it depends how you feel on having a dirty rear end all the time ?

resson it comes in were the torq is coming on

the turbo is spooling up to make boost this is what creates torq low down your turbo spools so fast that it hits the requested boost and overshoots it and then the ecu cuts the boost and re requests max boost again and it will overshoot again and mayb even a 3rd time if you keep your foot in it

sometimes you can get it to do it in 6th gear and it will do it 5 or 6 times mayb more if you keep your foot in it

i used to love the low end torq but everytime i tryed to race some one the car would start stutering and this gave them an advantage probably slowing teh car down a tone

now with the new map the car feels more like an OEM style car but just with a lot more power all teh way thru the band

if you had the car on sh3rks dyno you could see how much torq and power that map is really puting out and then you get the map made for your car

you can tell him you just want a nice moderate powerd map thats clean or even say you want the most agressive map he can do and smoke dosent matter and you will be making coal clouds

i would just ask for a nice medium powerd map around the 215-220 mark with a slight haze of smoke

if you do this with the sts it could take a lot longer than just traveling the 3 hours and getin it sorted to perfection on the day

if you ring sh3rk say jamie told you to ring and that you need to speak to mikko about mapping your pd170 and just tell him what is goin on and what you are wanting and he will advise you from ther

i dont think they are cheap but if you are swoping from another well known tuner and quote my name wen you call they may give you a discount

Erm i dont think the car wants to pull hard until around 2000 revs. I think after 2000 revs it pulls very hard and starts to lay off at around 3500.....

Very tempted to save up for s.hark map if i decide to keep the pd170

EGR Pipe Removed and Ebay Shortshifter fitted =D

The throw has been shortened alot and feels much better

I knew it would be an ass of a job, so i paid someone to do it for me ^^

short shifter is easy that pipe is a dog tho i just broke mine out as i couldent be botherd unbolting 100000 bolts just to get the stupid thing out

and 1 bolt mid section which holds the actual body of the pipe to the engine.

I watched the mechanic undo the 2 bolts towards the back of the engine, then we moved to the front under the bonnet and tried moving the pipe. Guess what? Didnt budge so then after about 10 minutes of searching how this thing is still connected we managed to find it lol It was deep down inside hiding!

We undone that one bolt in the mid section and then the pipe came loose straight away.
Then he cut the pipe after then bend, pulled the pipe out from under the car, and simply welded it back together for me

to be honest ***** dont realy do a stage you need to ask and tell them what you want just say you want the most power possible with minimum smoke

just say you want no more than a very light haze at max

you should be able to get 215 without smoke

What do you think custom open cone induction kit? or neuspeed p flo induction? Both pretty much the same i guess except the custom one i can get for £150 whereas the p flo is just under £200

thers probably no gain to be had but if you whant to do it do it~

if i was you i would get the bsh intake

looks about the best open cone filter setup you can get in my opinion

I am no suprised that they will not adjust the map for you i think they are in that 99% just ecu flashers! The second dpf off map i had put on was setup on a rolling road its loads better than the first map, mind would lose power at 3000rpm and come back again, they said it was the 27psi limit causing it so they turned it down a bit and now its sorted!
