PDC retrofit help

I'm in the process of putting bits together for the retrofit of rear park assist on my 66 plate Ibiza. Wiring is sorted, in my head anyway. Module I have but I'm getting my head confused I think, the module is second hand and I can't work out if it will have component protection on it and if it does Is there a way to remove it. If someone could give me a clue/advice be much appreciated

I "think" that the parking controller is too insignificant to be covered by CP, but if it is, then it just a case of taking your car to a VW Group Indie that has the correct licenses for the official VW Group tools to remove CP - that is as long as that used parking controller is not reg'd as being stolen.

I have bought a used Audi DAB radio in the past and trusted to luck, and that worked out okay, the time charged by my local VW Group Indie was under 0.5 hour, which in my mind was okay!

Edit:- I bought a proper PDC sensor hole cutter, and that cut the holes from the outside in very well, also depending on the colour of the bumper, Audi at least, sell 2 different colours of "washer" that gets fitted over the parking sensor, some other VW Group brands only ever use the black ones, but there are also translucent or white versions for lighter colours.

I was thinking exactly the same, I know they weren't when I did vauxhall stuff. I've had plenty reading on the net and no one has mentioned it on used PDC module

Another reason why I bought a PDC fitting tool kit was because all VW Group car bumpers that didn’t come with PDC sensors only have an X to mark the spot where to drill the PDC sensor holes, so that means that you then need to, after drilling/punching the PDC sensor holes, buy and glue/bond PDC sensor mounting brackets to the inside of the bumper cover. I used seriously strong Araldite that is a structural adhesive as I didn’t want to mess about with double sided tape, or have it fail on me. So, the expensive tool kit that I bought came with maybe 4 mandrels and clamps for holding these PDC sensor mountings in place while the adhesive cured. That job went very well except for the lengths on the Kufatec cable for the front bumper, I needed to make staggered cuts in the supplied cable and insert extensions to lots of leads, then bind it back up using the correct fabric tape. I was just aiming to make that upgrade same as if it was factory fitted with no messy/lazy short cuts.

Thanks for the information, I have ordered the proper tool and will also not bother with tape but use a good adhesive. I will make my own looms as I have experience of this when doing vauxhall mods and retrofits. As I'm only doing rear sensors ( for now ) and mine is a 3 door and the sensors fit in the grey trim at the bottom I can leave it all to set properly before refitting.

Genuine sensor brackets come with preapplied VHB adhesive tape. Accompanied by the correct activator spray, this is exactly how they leave the factory. They're not going to fall off ?. They're fitted to millions on vehicles each year and VWAG wouldn't want to be coughing up on bumper removal/refitting labour under warranty.

Well I was not going to be taking any chances, they were genuine VW Passat ones as the "bend" or profile of them was said to suit this B8 bumper - which they did.

Though on that topic, over the years, one of the factory fitted rear sensor brackets has been changing slightly without any accident damage etc as a reason.
