Ive already searched but theres nothing on my specific question.

The bolt holding my pedal box together has sheered so Im in the process of changing the pedal box.

Is there ANY way at all to get the pedal box out without disconnecting/removing the steering column/rack??

Thanks.

no, the steering wheel has to come off weather its still attached to the column or not!

The steering wheel has to come off unfortunately, I did mine last year. I followed Alpine Whites excellent guide and to be honest theres nothing to be scared of! You can do it over a weekend easily just make sure youve got all the bits you need before you start and a decent set of tools, I think I did a thread after I did mine and listed every tool I used.

Thanks for the replies. Although I worded my opening post wrong, I meant without removing the steering column.

I already have the steering wheel off, the trays and glovebox bit out. I have the pedal box loose but cant get it out due to having problems with one of the sheer nuts. But Ive managed to get a dremel tool so that should get it out.

For people about to do it, follow Alpine Whites guide and you honestly cant go wrong.

Heres one for you all. Are there different types of pedal box available between models.

Reason Im asking is that I got a spare pedal box from a scrappy in vgc. Welds still intact etc when mine first went 2 years ago, I never used it as I got my old one bolted. I got the old one out today and went to put the new one in and it wouldnt go. I then noticed on the right side of the box there is a bit with a extra bend, and it doesnt look like it has been done during removal as its too 'perfect'.

So anyone got any ideas?

tdi is hydraulic so no good there and automatic is different too

the cable type there is a change on chassis number 6K-V-133419 (although i dont know the physical difference)

technically 4 of them but only 2 relevant ones

i welded up and braced my original one when mine went

Well it looks like I have the wrong one then as mine has an extra bended bit on it.

Mine original one is past welding up and bracing tbh.
