Profile says LC :)

I've been running my LC 180 on normal unleaded since I got it, in accordance with the manufacturers spec.

Due to reading far too much here, I'm now paranoid it's not running right

For an LC and LCR you can defo run normal unleaded. If you want slightly better performance and some say mileage you could go for 97,98 or 99 Octane.

For my LCR I always use super - 97/98/99 whatever is available at the time, but I now and again use normal especially when at motorway services and tbh I can't notice any difference.

I ALWAYS use V-power, never anythin else!
thinking about it, i've done about 10,000 miles since getting my car!
Multiply that by the avg price of V Power, 99p/litre and avg 25mpg, £1800 quid! Ouch!
Better start using that reward card!

Getting my LC Tuesday and as it was a company car (I work for the Fleet Management company that owned it) the driver would have only used standard unleaded.

Shall I carry on or, because of me adding mods ie remap/exhaust/induction, should I start using super unleaded?

I work for one of the biggest oil companies in the world and would only recommend BP Ultimate or Shell V Power. It will make a difference.

I only use VPower in mine...Doubt any problems would occur if I used 95ron though!

Stay clear of supermarket fuel and you'll be fine :)

So I hear supermarket fuel has a lot of extra additives to bring it up to the same spec as garage fuels...

I guess this is the reason why they are able to sell it for less

wouldn' use the supermarket brands they come in from overseas and use all sorts of additional chemicals, hence the big problem earlier this year with cars that used supermarket.

BP / shell etc use home grown petrol as for super unleaded, very doubtful it makes any difference i have used both normal and super on my LC and apart from the extra cost no differece in performance or how much you can get out of the tank, think it maybe a bit more relevant for the more powerful vehicles, M3 etc.

Also i saw on the news this week some big motoring bod did a study on the difference runnin on super and non super over a period of time and it concluded that apart from spending a whole lot of dosh more, there wasnt much benefit, gains in tank was only around 6 Miles!!!! but like people say some appear to notice the difference and some dont, down to your own choice i reckon, i would rather keep me money in me pocket if car running fine.

Since my remap I was advised to ONLY use super - and I think I can tell the difference in performance...well worth it for a few extra pennies.

A don’t know about the cupra but anyone that has an lcr, if you look in the “R appendix” it does say you should use 98 ROZ unleaded.

That stuff about supermarket fuel is for tescos. Sainsburys use BP fuel, i often see the BP tanker in my local filling the station up.

Also have a friend whos a manager and confirmed it for me. :)

Enough of the petrol heads what about diesel is it better?

The inside of the filler cap on my Cupra also says 98 RON - Super, Premium.

Cant say I've ever noticed a difference between 95 and higher octane fuels - I do put a tank of V-power through every few tanks though as it's supposed to help clean the engine (or so Shell claim)
