The higher the colour temp you go, the less visible light you get on the road.

I think the factory-fitted HIDs I had on my Mk4 were 4300k, personally that's what I'd stick with. I want as much visible light on the road as possible.

^^ As mentioned the HID's take time to warm up so wouldn't work well as Full Beams.
From what I remember reading, frequent switching & short periods of operation are not good for HID bulbs.

Although for the single reflector version of the Ibiza headlights like mine there are kits (which are a touch more expensive) that have a shield that partially covers the bulb, when you flash the shield retracts and you get the full beam flash.
Interesting - that's how factory-fit bi-xenon headlights work to use HID for dip & main beams.
How much do they cost then ?

HID and LED both use less power than the bulbs they replace.

HID typically use only 35w to replace a 55w bulb and provide better light.

LED typically use less than 1w to replace a 21w bulb.

I suspect one day headlights will become LED-based; LED technology is improving all the time - you can get some very bright ones now. There's a bit of equipment we have at work, and the single white LED that's next to the power switch is so damn bright, we have to stick tape over it !

my 6000k at first spark look quite blue but get whiter after 30sec and as they warm up more are white within 10mins hardly see a tint at all but then they are on projector lights too

mind you hopping from speedbump to pothole and back again 5 times every 10m it's no surprise people think you are flashing em out i guess

Some Vovlo trucks now have LED rear light clusters but they are not popular as very expensive keep buying.

ive had 10 000k in all of my cars for a few years now and never been stopped for them. anything over 10 starts to look voilet and pinky so i guess i wont b going over 10 000k for now  ive lookd into 8 there not bad either but its down to personal pref at the end of the day.

I have the H4 Hi/Low Kit, Just fitted them and they look ace, what i wanna know is when i installed them with the full bulb cover they clicked really loud when switching hi - lo beam and didnt produce much light. i have taken the shields off as my mk4 1.2 sx already has little round shields and they look better. Is it ok to just have the hid light bulb without this full covering at tip
