well I was "ill" today, so didn't go to work - but it was cold this morning, so I didn't play with the car

Seems I made a boo-boo & wired the coil up wrong. good job I have a spare then, and wired it correctly

still not getting any spark - so I need to investigate it properly now - I think that's the 1st job for saturday.

I have some nice poly bushes from badger 5 to fit to the steering rack as well now

the melting wires were due to me connecting the live direct to the earth, when I thought I was connecting live to coil

I guessed the wiring, which was the wrong thing to do - quick reference to haynes & all was well (but still no spark)

:funk:

All wired up off the Key now, rather than crock clips as previously

No spark was as a result of me neglecting the fact that I need a hall sensor to actually trigger the coil.

Wired in my 'new' relay board into it's new box, and hard wired all the connections.

Just wanted to test that it worked, Key in ignition, 1st position (whiiiiiirrrrrrrrr) Fuel Pump primes, ECU 'wakes' up, reads all the correct values from all the sensors - check TPS is zero'd (it is), check that the base map I'd uploaded and all the constants are there (they are)

Great, lets be amused & turn it over.

Final notch on the barrel & CLUNK

reset ECU - 10.3V doh that's not enough to turn a starter

Go through the garage & find two flat batteries & remember I've loaned out my charger to a mate.

Never mind....

Can't decide how stripped out to have the inside (carpets / no carpets etc)

Fan's got a bug, I can get it blowing, but only a little breeze - not what I need, so I need to get in there & have a look at what's blocking what.

Had some mechanical setbacks - while I was fettling with putting the new steering rack bushes on the car fell off the axle stands (god knows how I managed that) - but I got out fine before it went. shook me up a bit, and the down side is that currently it's wonky on the drive :D

I need to roll it down a bit, then straighten it up a bit on the way up, but the steerings not connected, or handbrake, or rear brakes at all for that matter.

All good fun though :D

yeah. not worked out why (so not doing it until I have worked it out), not caused any damage either - as it just 'leaned' over

very weird

Yup, I should be picking up the charger today, then juice up the batteries over night.

Depending on what time I get home tomorrow I might get a chance.

I could always jump start it I guess.

yeah, it needs some cosmetic stuff once it's driving (couple of **** paint areas from where it was repaired at some point in it's life, rear bumper scraped etc) plus fixing the paint damage I caused taping the windows shut.

but i'll keep this one for a while I think

Getting a winter car to save my neck on the A43 in the rain/snow/ice this winter though

No reason to sell a car like that, especially when it will be almost new by the time you've finished, at least as far as the engine and running gear goes.

Can understand the desire to get a shed to bang around in, i think i might look at doing that this year too. Low profile tyres, stiff suspension and too many ponies don't mix well with winter, that's before you factor in the other loonies on the road who can't drive in normal weather let alone winter conditions.

Have you any clues to final power output once she's up and running and have you made any alterations to the suspension? I'm guessing the major drive has been to get it all bolted together and working first?

Well the current option for winter transport would have been on my bike :)

Effectively the 'car' is now pretty much reshelled, everything chassis wise has been off, replaced or cleaned.

Final power, depending on my mapping skills of course, but on std management the engine gave up 163bhp.

It's been on a bit of a crash diet already, with some more to come I hope, but I really can't wait to go baiting

winter hack car is probably going to be an Ibziza gti of some sort. cheap reliable etc.
