Howdy,

The tyres are due for replacement and have fotten a good price on Pirelli PZero Nero's 225/45/R17. Anyone have any experience of them? have done a search and had conflicting views. Basically i want something quiet and long lasting as new commute is main roads/motorways so out and out grip isnt as essential (but still want it). Also, the cars only a 1.6 so not as likely to eat the tyres. Can get 4 for €520 (about £390) fitted which i think is quite good. Advanced pit-stop wanted nearly double that...

any help greatly appreciated!

If they are the same as the OEM tyres on the Cupra (P Zero Rosso) then there will be no sidewall protection. Other than that, I liked the Pirellis.

You sure that's the size you need? 45 ?? thought that was for the 18's

I most probably am wrong, but worth checking.

go to my tyres dot com. On my ibiza cupra i had p zeros and they cost around 75 a corner though these were 205/40/r17. With regards to road noise they are noisy simple. I got just over ten thousand out the front tyres and this wasnt driving it hard, they are a softer tyre. The rear tyres did last a long time. The big plus point is that they are very good at keeping you stuck to the road and good at displacing water

i have these fitted on my cupra. I would say go for it, very good tyre and it does have a thicker tyre wall than the rosso's. when its time to replace my tyres again i will defo be going for these!!!

good in both wet and dry aswell, as for how long they are lasting i cant complain when there is over 300bhp going through them.

Go for it

Thanks for the repoly's lads! think i'll have another look around. they couldn't give me a price on 4 goodyear excellance so might try someone who can before i buy...other option is a set of 18" RS4 or R32 replicas but am a bit worried about the ride/roadnoise with them.

As for rim protection on the tyre...i'd never let my girlfriend drive the car;)

Ya should look at uniroyle's. Great for wet weather and they'll be less than or around 100 each

Pirellis would be my second choice...
1st is Toyo T1R... don't last long but grip on both wet and dry is... mmmmm :)

unfortuneatly got the awful Bridgestones on my Cupra... :(

Yep the PZeros wear very quick too - id say around 10,000mls (on the front)

I wonder why SEAT keep swapping the tyres on the Cupra & FR, thats very annoying. :(

I had the bridgestones, they were tragic ! Noisy, no grip & driving in the wet turned you into Jean Alesi ! (A lot of work at the wheel !)

To save money, they probably play manufacturers off each other to get the best deal.

I suspect some manufacturers stockpile tyres. I got a puncture in my 20 day old Astra and VX couldn't source the same tyre anywhere in the country. The had been built to order as well, so I think they must have had a stockpile of old version tyres at the factory in Antwerp.
