Yup, same here. I have bought a few spares just in case any more come off.
You have to be careful, though as there are 2 types. One for the normal nut and one for the locking nut.
The locking nut one is slightly bigger, and so will come straight off if you put it on the normal nut.
As you say, pence to replace, but
annoying at the same time......

I had none when I took delivery of my LCR.
Via the forum I new this wasn't uncommon, so I told the dealer (his initial reply - "LCR's don't have them" !!) AND gave him the part numbers:
Wheel nut cover part numbers
"4 x 8D0601173B/D and 16 x 321601173A please Mr Dealer".
Dealer could only find part number 8D0601173B/D for the LCR and was adamant there wasn't another one listed. So he ordered 20 and I picked them up the following week, fitted them in the dealer car park, drove home, and found I only had 15 left.
Went back to dealer, showed him the error of his ways and politely asked if he would just feckin order 16 of the 321601173A, like I told him to in the first place.
Not lost one since...
PS - I got 10 spare locking nut covers if anyone needs replacements

They are caps but usually fitted to VW's. They have a 6mm allen key in the end rather than being flat.
Push them on properly and they shouldnt come off, I use a shallow 22mm socket and a short extension. Pop the cap in the socket and push em on.

in the 18 months of my LCR ownership, everytime I have taken a wheel off, I have used the special tool in the spare wheel kit to pull off the nut covers, taking care NOT to scratch my alloys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just noticed that JCT 600 BRADFORD's SKILLED technician's have used a pair of pliers(long,short,snipe, or otherwise) to repeatedley try to pull off the covers of my wheel nuts.
4 out of 5 of them on each front wheel look like they have been attacked by a YTS apprentice with a hangover!!!!

The tool should be with the jack inside your spare wheel and looks like this...
It just pushes over the cover and locks onto it allowing you to pull it off.
It has the number 8D0 012 244 A printed on it if that helps.

I've lost 2 in the space of 5 months and they're a right barsteward to get on properly. I stripped the coating off the alloy trying to get one on this morning. Smacking the edges firmly with a rubber mallet seems to do the trick though and I've not lost the one I replaced in June (yet).
