Afternoon all,

Just off to GSF to get my bits n pieces for big service,here's what i have can someone just verify if all there n what not,please...

8v Cupra sport gti on 76k btw....

Standard Brembo discs front n rear
Mintex extreme pads f+r (or another suggestion for all round town driving??)
oil filter
air filter
NGK spark plugs
pollen filter
cambelt
dizzy cap
rotor arm
ht leads

Necessary to change leads etc if car is ok?? know that's the whole point of servicing but hey!! Also while she's in the coilies are going on,may have to split this into a 2part venture due to funding so what must i change while they're going on...

Also i was told i had a split in my inner cv gaiter a while back,change the whole thing or just the inner??? if doing one side need to do other?? Also play in rear wheel bearings,new ones needed?? or just tighten current ones???

Definitely will be trying for my club discount,either scn or e38 as think will need it for this lot:cry:

wheel bearings for the rear discs anyway
pagid as alt for pads if no stock
camblet - fit a kit (belt and tensioner)
alt + pas belts (off whilst doing cambelt)
leads only if doubtful as they are expensive usually

Cheers Flaps,did think that about the leads but wasn't sure what constituted expensive,set on ebay couple of weeks back bout £20,was gonna get em n missed em:shrug:

Lets see if GSF honour the discount,according to guy on e38 Brixton are not very giving!!!

What about the gaiter,anyone,whole thing or just inner? one or both sides?

Flaps,pagid pads the guy at gsf told me last time they had gone over to mintex on brembos,that said they don't stock standard brembos only drilled n fancy :shrug: so half it order will be return collection job anyway....so anything that i haven't got can be got then....

only change the inner one if the outer one isn't split, easiest to take out the whole drive shaft and hub. if the other side looks ok ( no splits or cracking) then best leave it alone.

Fuel Filter.

When fitting collies, you may aswell fit new top mounts and bearings while your there.

It takes 2 minutes to fit and while youe doing a service why not change things that makes the car run better? For the sake of about £4 why not?

I personaly dont trust alot of what dealers say.

Its in the middle of the rear beam.

if your coilies are going on, you might need some new anti roll bar drop links. when fitting my coilies thaey snapped like carrots. dealers dont keep them and usually £28 each.

if you are doing the inner cv gaiter forget the standard vw multi spline bolts they are useless

use the FORD allen headed ones - lot easier to use

around £0.50p each and dont forget to refit the double washers ;)

Had fuel filter on paper list but forgot to put on here! This is gonna end up massive,got to gsf all prepared n they shut at 4,was 4.10:doh:eventually it'll get sorted....:redface:

Ninj...clutch cable,trying to hang that out,wait til it snaps:lol:

Decided now due to cost n time etc although gonna get all the parts now will definitely have to split into 2 trips to garage so 1st will be brakes(desperately need doing),coilies,relay for hid's,window mechanism then 2nd for a service.prob only couple of weeks between but gotta make sure i have plenty dollar to cover it all. Get a new car at this rate:shrug:
