Polo VS Ibiza

I would imagine the Cupra would depreciate faster than the FR because it costs more to begin with. I certainly don't think the Cupra would be worth £3000 more in 3/4 years but I may be wrong. The FR is a nice car especially with the 17" wheels, tech pack, Xenons, parking sensors and climate control. No doubt the Polo will hold its value the best out of the bunch though.

I think the difficulty is if you add those extras then your £1200 closer towards the Cupra. The cupra would only need parking sensors adding.

I am leaning more towards an FR...but no xenons. Xenons are stunning but pricy and if Im shelling out that much I might as well just get a cupra?

Think I'm gonna buy new, some really good deals to be had. New cupra, met paint and parking sensors for £15,600. List is about £19,300.

Used don't seem to good deals, I want a post fl.

Just buying outright, the Seat finance deals don't seem great ATM.

If you have the money in a really good savings account or something and you can get a good apr% on finance or a loan it could be worth doing it that way as your better off having the lump sum in your pocket than someone else's. We used to get that a lot when I was working for Mercedes like.

If you are buying new I'd look at the AUDI A1. You can get a 1.4 TFSi Sport model for zero deposit and £230 a month payments (balloon payment at the end). Or the 1.6 TDi sport for the same price which is what my friend has just bought hence why I know the prices.
The POLO is smart, but bland. The FR has a poor ride quality and is basic kit wise. It is however a very tempting list price and you can put the options on. I'd rather have the Ibiza over the Polo.
If you want a hot hatch I would go for the new Fiesta ST. If you just want a nippy, smart well equipped car I would go for the A1. Its expensive, but will hold its value better than the Ibiza and hence is probably no more money to pay out each month on the finance.

I do like the A1 but I'm quite fussy on spec so I'd want climate control and met paint so when I just specked it up it comes to £18,735 which is more than I want to spend even if I could get it down to £17,000. An Audi would certainly hold its value better though.

I'm thinking maybe against a Polo now unless I could get a super deal on one, just cannot justify the £2500 price difference compared to a similar spec FR. Even thinking against the cupra as well, hearing the engine problems makes me paranoid :( lol

Ideally I'd have a Leon sc fr 140 but my budget it £16k so it won't stretch.

Being on a forum magnifies the amount of complaints about things, when you think how many 1.4tsi's are out there compared to how many are saying about having problems it's probably a low amount.

I looked at the A1 when I was buying but I wanted the 1.2 TSI and they only do the 85HP version in the A1 for significantly more money. The fact that I'm not sold on the looks of the A1 either drew me towards the Ibiza. I also don't think the FR's ride quality is 'poor'. It's what I would expect for a car that handles as well as the little Ibiza does. I can understand some people finding it a little harsh but I don't personally find it a problem.

I wouldn't say the Ibiza has a poor quality ride but I accept its not as refined as a Polo or A1... But it is at least £3K cheaper.

Yeah you can put up with the ride on the Ibiza FR. It just annoys me that SEAT decided not to bother developing the suspension for it and just took the MAX POWER approach of rock hard springs equals handling. Why oh why then does the car ride higher than most bloody 4x4's?! It rides so high that all my workmates commented on it when I got the car. If it sat an inch lower it wouldn't suddenly bottom out would it. SC my arse! I swear I could slam the car on coilovers and it would ride better than it does now! Its like poundland does suspension! And I know someone with a 1.4 Sport which rides just as horrible as my FR and that car is about as slow as you can get these days. I guess that might be where the corners have been cut to keep the cost down.

Anyway back on to the finance of the new motor for the OP. The A1 might be more expensive, but if its a balloon payment type finance it could even be cheaper than the Ibiza per month. However if you are putting down a deposit then that's a different story. For example I pay just over a hundred quid a month for the Ibiza, but my neighbour told me his daughter is paying 170 a month for a Fiesta 1.2 Zetec. On paper those cars are probably a similar price/spec I would imagine.

It's a better suspension in the Cupra, much better! Personally in the cupra the ride is good but the steering doesn't have that much feel compared to others. The cupra is also about 20mm lower than the fr I think?

I'd prefer the cupra just need everyone to say the new ones don't have the same engine trouble as the old ones. I'm always vary of dealer finance that said I had the current ibiza on credit but it was 0% :)

It just seems like everyone has nightmares with a 1.4tsi engine because the problems are magnified because your on a forum.

Right bar something major cropping up, in a couple of weeks I shall be placing my order for a cupra. Think I'm gonna go for Nevada white (isn't many choices) with parking sensors, doesn't seem to be much more else worth getting.

Hopefully should arrive September for a 63 plate.
