Well, you must be pleased Maz! I don't really know much about these cars from personal experience so I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the new addition. Make sure you get some nice pics of the ceramics... 4 pots front and rear?

Not at all envious........ :D

Yea I am really pleased! I want to give the interior a good clean to my standards and then give it a good machine polish. I will post some decent pics soon. The calipers are 6 pot 380mm ceramic discs.

Lovely, perfect car to rekindle a passion I'd say.

Can't wait for the detail thread

Porsche C4S Pictures

What an awful Saturday we have had. Car has been Sat in the batcave since I got her cause of the poor weather. I felt it was pointless taking the car out when it raining so heavy. Gave me a good opportunity to inspect the paintwork and get working on the interior.

The paintwork itself for an the age of the car is in quite remarkable condition. Really well looked after and under the inspection lights I could only make out swirls under some extreme angles. I suppose thats the benefit of silver! Nevertheless the paint work has decent shine to it so I am not going to go mental on paintwork just yet. When I do detail the car it will be a behemoth type detail probably involving several stages to really refine the paintwork. I will probably be using a a premium sealant on their that lasts and protects well as I will be going on some long road trips [wales, scotland and mainland europe].

The interior was in good condition. By this I mean they valeted the interior - it was clean. The leather was as I expected, shiny which shows that there was oils and dirt in the leather. I spent roughly 6 hours cleaning the interior making sure it was looking as good as it possibly could. Anyway some pictures!

Just make sure you don't knackered your ceramics up. A customer of ours came to a new full set of disks and pads and they bill came to £9200

Man i've missed a lot here........................ can't believe you got rid of the Audi so soon

But you have redeemed yourself with its replacement [B)]
Cheers :)

I dont miss the S4 - only the convenience of the it. I suppose it had a lot of power which made everything easy [over taking etc.. :)]

Yea I read a bit about that. Question is how did they screw them up? I heard a lot of track driving does it? I have seen full steel conversion for the pccb. Apparently there isnt much in it breaking performance wise apart from fade.

Well they advertise them as they will last the length of the car which they should do really as they don't fade however round a track I know somebody who has cooked there's within an hour.

If you don't do many track days you should be fine.

Detail started on the C4S. Getting her ready for winter. Already planned to get X51 radiator installed for better cooling. Oh and a newer low temperature sensor.

Detailing has started - shock horror!

This week I have decided the car needed some loving from myself. I always said that if I owned a porker it would get the love it deserves so I am going to put as many hours as I can making sure she looks as perfect as I can make her.

Whilst I was detailing I was shocked at how the hell I missed this!?!?

I must have picked it up the weekend just gone. How on earth I didn't notice it whilst washing the car and detailing her every night this week I do not know!

It didn't look pretty and was far worse in person that the camera caught. There was some deep scratches there and I was fearing the worst - a respray. I decided I was going to do all I possibly can do minimize it until i could decide who I would take the car to for a respray.

After 25 minutes this is what I was left with after using 3000 grit wet and dry paper. Then compounded with Menzerna IP with rotary.

I decided to give it another go with 3000grit and not use 2000 or 1500 grit as I was worried about the paint depth. Unfortunately my PTG doesn't read plastic bumpers so had to play it safe although it didn't matter if it needed a respray I suppose.

After the second shot with 3000 grit and polished using Gloss It strongest polish with a microfibre compounding pad I got this result.

I decided that I could get the rest out with some more compounding and changed to the DA using various technique and a few different polishes to attack the left over scratches.

This is what was left in the end. I am going to revisit it tomorrow as I spent a fair amount of time using all my experience getting the scratches out.

Under different light it looks fully corrected!

Needless to say I am extremely pleased with the results and so happy that after having the car for just over a month the rear bumper wouldn't need a respray. I am going to order some lacquer and paint from Porsche this week so I have the option to touch up the scratch and wetsand the touch up so its hardly visible. I will probably employ this method on a couple of stone chips I noticed whilst detailing the car.

Arms are killing me as I got 1/4 of the car left to do for the first stage of the machine polish process. Another 2 stages to go but she is looking really really glossy :) Full detail writeup when I have finished.
