Hi all :)

I drive a Seat Cordoba Tdi 130 that i have owned since it was 4 months old. (53 k on clock)

Anyway , because of the recent bad weather i have been unable to use the car for about 5 days so it has been left in my garage.

The problem is basically that , when i got the car out to go to work yesterday i noticed that the climate control unit wasn't working . All the digital symbols on the display were flashing on and off continuously

I managed to get the unit to work just by fiddling with the on / off button a few times.
The same thing happened again this morning and i seemed to sort the problem again by using the same method as before.

I was just wondering if any of you guys have experienced this problem yourselfs and could give me some advice , as this problem has never occured before ,

Many thanks ,

John :D

PS : Heres a photo of the unit ( working properly )

Is the display flickering on and off ? Like there could be a bit of condensation just shorting out a connection ??

If you set the fan speed to a level you can hear, do they cut out when the display goes off or is it just the display itself that isn't working ?

When the display flickers there is no fan working or heat coming from the unit. The same problem happened yesterday after work.

When the car fired up the climate control unit immediately started to flicker on /off. This time i didn't fiddle about with the unit , and after a few seconds it sorted itself out ,

Mine does the same - flashes for 5-10 secs on start up. After it's stopped flashing the climate control works as normal. I think the flashing means the Aircon needs regassing, but I haven't got round to it yet. Check the manual

Sounds most likely to be a condensation issue, but this could point to the start of a short in the wiring.

On the Toledo a couple of years ago my screen suddenly died. Checked the fuse - it was bust - so fitted a new fuse which popped the second I inserted it

...long story short - local auto electrician diagnosed it as a short somewhere behind the dash - most likely where the loom had fretted against some metalwork. Fixed it by running a new wire from the fusebox directly to the unit.

Hopefully, with use, yours might sort itself out

if the climatronic unit flashes on and off...it usually means the aircon needs regasing...mine did this, also it could be the pressure sensors as well

the flashing is not the fault but the car trying to tell you there is a fault...it should flash for 5 seconds to show you that..bit like the service indicator by the milometer

trying turning the air down to low and see if the air is freezing cold, if it is just cold it will prob need a service and a regas.

If your aircon isn't working properly, make sure you run the climate control on "ECON" to avoid damaging the comressor.
