Even if he was pushing 189bhp, surely weight to power would be in your favour.

Not a chance mate, unless he's had some serious work done to it yours will destroy it.

The 2.0 ones are only 125 BHP, 150 for the 2007 on ones. That, coupled with the drag from the 4WD system, and the near 200kg weight difference will make it easy work for the cupra. Backbox will give practically no benefit at all TBH. It's more in the cat, downpipe and manifold on a NA motor.

To prove it once and for all, there's one way to find out whcih is fatser. Just remember to turn TCS off.

If its a Y reg, it's a 125 BHP engine, with a 0-60 time (According to parkers) of 10 sec. Your cupra will do it is 7.5.

Plus you have a top speed of 146, he can only do 119.

I once raced a bog standard imprezza turbo in my bog standard 1.8t cupra, in a legit 8th mile timed drag race. He won, marginally by a couple of hundredths of a second, and I mean it was practically a draw. Absolutely nothing in it. And that was a turbo, his turdo with have nothing on you.
